Topic: Flying V Pickups

Hey everybody,

I have a Korina Flying V with Seymour Duncan '59's in both positions. I'm looking for something that still has a vintage voicing, but has a little bit more output.... The 59's just don't seem to do it for me. I wanna look into some boutique builders but there are so many out there! I have done a bit of research, but I just cant decide on my own. I (obviously, and why I bought the guitar) really dig Joe's screaming tones in Just Got Paid. I like Bare Knuckle Pickup's stuff quite a bit, but I am open to any and all suggestions. I'll be using the guitar on heavier songs... Let the fun begin!

Thanks,
Logan

Re: Flying V Pickups

I have a Duncan Custom in the bridge of my LP and it's described as a PAF on steroids. I dig the tone I get from it. Just a little more punch than a 59.

Re: Flying V Pickups

cool, I'll look into it! Are the more articulate than a stock '59? Although, it may just be my sloppy playing.

Re: Flying V Pickups

Sheptones are the best.  I have tributes in my new Gibson LP with 50's wiring and real pio sprague caps.  Huge difference. Very articulate.  Sheptone makes a great higher output PAF called AB Custom which both neck and bridge are higher output and the BK customs have a higher output bridge and a tribute neck.  You may be in store fo the AB customs.  They should run you around $259 for a set with covers and $229 without.  Shep makes a really nice thin cover that won't effect your tone.
Also just for fun- I had Shep flip one magnet backwards so that when the switch is in the middle position it produces a funky out of phase sound.  The treble and rhythm positions will function normal sounding.  I think this mod is called the Peter Green mod.  It s a great way to get a natural out of phase sound without using a pedal.
Sorry if this sound like a commercial or a am a sales rep or something... I am not!  I just really dig the tone and unbeatable customer service.
