Topic: Anyone for a Givson or a Fendar?

So I've been in India for 3 weeks- mostly in andaman and nicobar islands which I highly recommend- it is paradise.

Anyway, I went to an Indian  guit shop the other day and much to my amusement, found the 2 local brands are indeed Fendar and givson!!!!! Complete with identical headstock logos!

I tried a couple- they were truly awful- amongst the worst guitars I have ever played- even worse than a kids novelty guitar- frets were rougher than a bears backside and even I could not bring myself to buy one for the sixty dollars they cost!

By saying that, I jammed at a couple of bars on said givsons......I sounded dreadful but the Indian players sound great- It shows what can be done with talent and less gear!

I would however defy even Joe to play woke up dreaming on one of the Indian brands!!!

Happy New Year to all and I'm saddened I missed the BCC shows, specially as i used to serve Jason bon hams beer at the farmers boy pub in kidderminster some 23 yes ago.......

I've got a Hobner made by the same company. It was leaning against a bus stop in East London, obviously abandoned and from a distance looked like a Hofner President. Evidently it's " best guitar in calcutta"......I ain't so sure!!!

Givson, Fendar and Hobner  lol

What next for the Indian manufacturer then? How about a Paul Reed **##. Or an Effingphone?

What was it Hank Marvin used to play with? a Baldtwin?

The scope is endless. Still I am laughing now but like with mexican Fenders the Indians will probably end up building the REAL THING at some point.
