Re: Silver Jubs Overdrive Pedal

Mmm

hard to tell with the amount of notes the guy is playing , if he missed every
second note out then we might get a chance to hear how it sounds LOL
just sounds like a fuzz pedal to me but not a milloin miles away

Re: Silver Jubs Overdrive Pedal

Too buzzy for my taste.

Re: Silver Jubs Overdrive Pedal

Not even close. Buzzy and fizzy.

Re: Silver Jubs Overdrive Pedal

Yeah, cannot find much info about it.  just found it interesting that someone attempted it.  would be cool if a reputable "amp in a box" like menatone or lovepedal would tackle that project.  anyhow, did you guys notice the effects loop in the pedal?

Re: Silver Jubs Overdrive Pedal

I would have prefer a demo through a better sounding amp.   Hard to evaluate the tone of a pedal which is supposed to mimic a Jube when playing it through a lunchbox style combo.   Even a Princeton or Deluxe Reverb would be a better platform.

Re: Silver Jubs Overdrive Pedal

The original marshall governor used by Gary moore, was alledgedly to be the same
clipping diode circuit that is in the Silver jubilee pre-amp. however IMO what makes
the Jubilee sound the way it does is how the diodes are placed between the preamp and poweramp
they are basically 4 red LEDs with some capacitors to round the edges of the distortion the diodes produce.

for what its worth a Silver jubilee amp at a low volume with G12 -75 speakers also sounds fizzy so who
knows what the silver jube pedal would sound like into a cranked jcm800 or other marshall amp ?

Re: Silver Jubs Overdrive Pedal

Yeah... Nothing would sound big through 6.5" speaker... Play it through, like SOFTMC said, JCM 800 with at least 2x12 Cab and then It might get CLOSE to the real Silver Jubilee. With this little amp IMHO no way smile

Re: Silver Jubs Overdrive Pedal

Actually I think the trick for the "amp in a pedal" deal to work, is that the amp it is played though should not be anything like the namesake of the clone.  I think for example, the reason why the marshall-in-a-pedal, ummm pedals, work well with fender style amps, is because the pedal is designed for a giant mid boost, where most fenders have scooped mids.  not sure what a marshall-sound pedal into a marshall would sound like.  so yeah, in that video, tiny amp no es bueno, but it may make a DRRI sing.

Not always the case. The zvex box of rock is designed to be a jtm-45 in a box and they say play it through a warm clean marshall tone.

"i'm looking for the JTM OD" - "Sure, buy a JTM and our box of rock!" ...

i'm very sceptical about the amp in a pedal concept. If anyone has succeeded yet, he'd be rich.
people wouldn't buy amps when a pedal can do the same thing.

I agree that the amp in a pedal concept is hard. There is so much going on in great amp tone but I think Zvex has done a pretty good job. if you check out his site and look at the video demo of the box of rock it does a very good job indeed. The amp in a pedal is handy for the bedroom player.
