Topic: Guitar Building In Progress

My son Bobby (art major) is building his first guitar.  I am so proud of him, wanted to share with you where he is at on it right now.  There have been some frustrations, but for his first time I find it absolutely incredible.  Here's a few pics:

He's making it for his girl Kaelie,  he had scripted her name out so beautifully and was going to have in mother of pearl....as you can imagine, it is very fragile and very hard to cut out.....broken letters = broken heart, but he's on to another idea for her name on it ... it has been quite a work in progress...buy supplies as can afford...etc......of course inner guitar where glue is showing will be covered with his "name card" as he called it.  I will keep you updated as she comes along.  Hope you enjoy seeing it.  And it will be so cool to hear what it sounds like when it is done.    smile

Re: Guitar Building In Progress

Nice, Patty... he should be real proud of himself.  My son also built a guitar, an electric one, over the course of a few years.  He worked on it 2 different years in high school wood shop, and he's 20 now and finally finished it.  Or I think so anyway... he may still have some improvements in mind.  He had many "learning experiences" along the way, and I'm sure the next one will go smoother, if he'd ever decide to tackle that job again, but overall I'd say his finished product is pretty darn nice for a first try.  Wish I had photos.

Looks really good!!! Once a friend and myself made an electric guitar, didn't sound or play to good, never tried again.  sad
