Topic: got lucky

A few years ago a friend my old bass player gave me an old Ibanez Tube Screamer he got in a trade.  We both looked at it and said a TS10 huh.  I chucked it in my bag and didn't pull it out again until a few weeks ago wanting to push the Marshall some more during leads.  It sounded great and gave me that sound I was searching for in my head.

Anyway after doing some research and opening up the cover low and behold a JRC4558D chip with a 4 digit S/N.  Factory soldering so I must have gotten lucky and someone used a NOS chip in it,

No wonder it sounded so good.  Now my Hot Drive N' Boost is for sale on  the bay.

Sorry not really Joe related but I wanted to share my enthusiasm.

Nice find... I found a beat up Gretsch Duo Jet in a pawn shop not too long ago and walked out with it and a hardshell case for 300 bucks. One of those times you feel like you are stealing something.

It's always exciting when you stumble on a treasure like that.  Though it NEVER seems to happen to "you", always someone else.

My dad gave me an old Marshall straight cabinet a few years ago.  He is a bass player, and used it for practice.  We even used it for a make shift PA vocal cab for some time.  I always thought it sounded great, but it looked horrible so I was thinking of getting rid of it.  (I have 4 other 4X12 cabs)  I decided to open the back and check the speakers, after all they DID sound sweet, and that's because they were Celestion G12-65's.  They now reside in a much nicer shaped Marshall cabinet. -Seth
