We are happy to see Ryan a second time in Europe. As Manni writes, he plans a European tour in November to promote his new CD.

Eva,

Has Ryan mentioned to you why he doesn't tour the States?  Outside of New Mexico it looks like he's become a European transplant.

Re: Ryan McGarvey

Spoke with Ryan on Facebook yesterday. Been trying to have him come to Wisconsin and have mentioned Milwaukee Summerfest before. He said he contacted the organizers this year and was close to coming. Hopefully, next year will be the charm! smile

Hi Curby,

Interesting question. No idea why Ryan started to tour Europe before touring the States.
But when he gave his debut here in Europe, everybody knew that Ryan is very special and so it's no wonder that he's booked again here.

Re: Ryan McGarvey

I hope we get a chance to see him in the UK before too long. Just going by the reactions here and on other boards the guy must be dynamite.

I've swapped emails with Bluesmoose and given them contacts for venues in my part of the country, and fingers crossed, things will happen. There was some talk of November shows, possibly in the South East, but just hope he and they look a bit further North. There may even be a chance of a double-header with Eric Steckel sometime in 2012 as Bluesmoose also handle him for Europe. I'll be front of the queue for that one if it happens.

Re: Ryan McGarvey

I believe there is a lot more $ to be made in blues/rock in Europe than here in the US. Many other artists have done the same.  hmm

Darn right Gary. We're all about winners and Ryan sure is one! Love his music and saw him perform live just once, down in Texas in April. Man, he can bring it! cool

Re: Ryan McGarvey

Monday November 14th Ryan is doing a Blues In The Schools at my school De Driemark in Winterswijk.
Our Joe Bonamassa was the first to do that , Marcel Scherpenzeel from Dutch Bluesrockband Wolfpin and Michael Burks followed.
There are more great names (I asked them when I interviewed them for www.bluesmagazine.nl ) for the coming 5years (then I retire) and they all promised to do it, depending on their tourschedule as we only can organise it between mid-October till December 3rd:

Philip Sayce
Lance Lopez
Stoney Curtis
Henrik Freischlader
Ana Popovic
Danny Bryant
Eric Steckel
Joanne Shaw Taylor

And they do it for free!!!!

I'm so proud of them all.

Re: Ryan McGarvey

Andre do you have one of these sessions on video, we have approached schools in the Uk and getting some takers, i have an idea of what should be done, but seeing others doing it would be good. Send them via FB if that's better.

Rick's reply pretty much hit the nail on the head. There are apparently more suitable, small venues within easy reach of one another, and that cater to 'our' kind of music over here, than there are in the US. This means that you can put together a ten day tour of venues that don't require more than maybe three hours driving to get to the next gig. Maybe Ryan also came over here first because a number of us made some serious work of trying to get it together on his behalf?  wink

Maybe Ryan also (in part) came over here first because he was advised to do so by his friend and mentor, a certain Joe B?  tongue

You're welcome. Is it okay, if I give it to you the day before at the Gompelhof, Mol?
If you can't wait, I'll bring it with me to the Carre.

Two new dates added:
1 for me in Cologne, Yard Club on 7 November
1 in the far far east of Germany, Schwerborn (near Erfurt), Gute Quelle on 9 November

What does Bibi prefer? (I'll be going with her.) Carre might be 'safer'.
