Re: Ryan McGarvey

Just got back from Ryan's show at the Robin2 in Bilston, UK. An absolutely outstanding performance as usual, the band excelled as always and I came away with a big smile. Mystic Dream, despite being lengthy, still has me open mouthed to the end but his work on the Strat, specifically Firework Eyes, was the stand out. He played his new D'Angelico on all but 4 songs and clearly loves his new axe. I prefer the tone he gets out his LP and Strat though.

Spoke to him at the end of the show, bought his latest CD and got it signed. I asked why they were not on the Blues Alive At Sea Cruise next year - apparently they were not invited back and wanted to go, which kinda threw me a little as they were without one of the high points last February, a view shared by most people I spoke with at the time and after. I'd love to know the thinking behind that one.

Downside, the lighting at the Robin2 was shockingly bad and Ryan was rewarded with a pretty sparse audience - I reckon less then 80 people. It felt like a personal show, I took 6 people with me and my wife to see him for the first time, they were all blown away, but were surprised at how few people were present given the quality of the artist.

He's a fantastic talent, the mix of rock and blues is on the money for me and he has a great drummer and bassist in Logan and Sam. He's also a lovely guy. I wish him all the best and hope he makes the next step up. If there's any justice, he will and soon.....

Possibly, I do recall sitting up top in the Atrium Bar at seats overlooking it and chatting with a guy about him. Hello if you are he! smile

All is good thanks, and yes I do remember the chat and so does my wife now we have discussed it! Hope you are both well too, a shame you won't be there in February, but hopefully catch you at the 2017 bash.

Here's a video I took at the Robin2 show here in central England last week. He was on fire, despite the smallish crowd.

Excellent choice to record....I love "Firework Eyes"....My wife is Asian and I am 6'6" if that clears up any doubt but I think we were the ones you met....Ryan is definitely a talent that is under appreciated.....

Thanks for those wonderful fotos and the vids especially my fav "Little Red Riding Hood" with its
immense powerful drive.
We were in the Musiktheater Rex (Oct,6) and over the moon because of Ryan's powerful energetic performance, soulful singing and masterlike guitartreating f.e. at the track "Mystic Dreams". It's a pity that they didn't get an invitation to the Blues Cruise II though they were willing to play there a second time.
Always a pleasure to welcome him in Germany. Keep on promoting, Manni!
By the way: Payed 15 € by our gig in Miltenberg ( Beavers) in spring and 18,75€ in Bensheim (Rex).
Catch him as you can...

Re: Ryan McGarvey

Ryan will start in about 1 week to his European Spring Tour 2016 with 31 gigs in 9 countries.
His band members are "our" Carmine Rojas on bass and Christopher Anton Hill from Dallas on drums.
Logan and Sam will probably be with him on the Autumn Tour 2016.
We intend to catch this wonderful new combination on 25,May at the new Musiktheater Rex in Bensheim.
Thrilled which material they will play. Ryan spoke from some crazy stuff...

Re: Ryan McGarvey

Hey ho :-)

Hope that the Alte Post in Wegberg will be ready after some reconstruction works for the concert on 7 May … I am ready …

Thanks Pete, that was so cool!  Love the Funk 49!  Ryan is such a genuinely nice gentle guy and a beast on the guitar!  Really nice kickstart to Saturday morning!  Love that bass man Carmine, too!  Such a special guy in the hearts of many!  Wish I could have been there!!!  Thanks for the capture!

Re: Ryan McGarvey

After many years of following Ryan McGarvey i finally got to see him Live in my hometown how cool was that at The Westcoast Bar here in Margate Kent.
Smallish venue basement blues club just a tad bigger than The Borderline
about 60 in attendance but very appreciative.
Ryan is a Tone Monster he like its big and raw but with a clean crisp edge, its a killer tone and all the fans on here who've been toting him for a long time now are seeing him now turn into the real deal just like Joe did, he has it all nice voice a brilliant band who sound so tight so tight
and the songs are ear candy very catchty and real soulful he certainly grabs your attention with his mastery, you know this guy is real class, you look around and see the audience transfixed on just a night out watching a live band, but this is no ordinary 3 piece this is so good so perfect so real and the 3 musicians who are actually world class to make Perfect Amazing Scintilating Blues Music.

Can i just add how freaking Awesome Carmine Rojas is, honestly his tone as well last night was just huge so warm but powerful i dont think ive heard such good Bass playing ever as in last nights show.
The Cool one is playing like he's 20 years younger hes really letting rip and showing off his runs and like but bringing so so much to Ryans sound, The Band said they hugely enjoyed The Borderline the night before and i think they were still on a buzz and they were fired up for their last show of the uk tour.
i dont usually go to too much shows anymore but i knew i had to go see Ryan and Carmine and they dealt out some wonderful beautiful music and was such a fantastic night
i applaud them for that, so so good actually they were f**ckin so Awesome
my faves were  "So Close to Heaven"  "My Heart to You"  "Mystic Dream"

Ryan can be big i think the next 2 years we'll see him catapult to medium size venue status here in europe like 1500 - 2000 venues just gotta keep touring and playing sets like that i can see no none any problems stopping him, he's just too talented out of of the new crop of blues artists he is the new one to see

............ Michael

great to see Manni too smile  perfect manager for Ryan in Europe.  we had a catch up of the old days was fun Carmine telling stories of the batman outfit and the tal wigs etc lol
