Topic: My First Les Paul!

Hey guys! I got my first Les Paul yesterday as a 16th Birthday gift. It's a 1994, which is quite significant since that's the year I was born! Judging by the Serial Number, it was made in January so it's 6 months older, but still! I posted on the Gibson forums and one of their customer relation guys responded to my thread and suggested that it's probably a Studio Lite with the "Trans Blue" finish, and I could give them a ring tomorrow during business hours and they could tell me for sure by the Serial Number. Figured I'd post up some pics for the Bonabuddies to look at tongue!

Re: My First Les Paul!

Thanks Alex! The color is really much more interesting in person. It has a bit more greenish tint to it. Once she's taken outside, it takes on a near turquoise color. And yes, she has been let loose to rock. tongue Especially after watching a Joe interview and realizing the tons of tone a Les Paul carries! My Strat was basically toggling the selector with the Bridge tone at 10 and Neck at 0 lol. The tone knobs on this Les Paul turn a little easier  wink

Congratulations! You look like you're ready to rock!

Re: My First Les Paul!

I got the call into Gibson Customer Service. 1994 Studio Lite in the Blue finish, with Black Chrome Hardware. Awesome guitar! Out of curiosity (*Should* have checked this before buying...), 875 sound at least reasonable for that?

Brandon-

It's lovely. I really dig Studio Lesters and think they're a very underated LP. In fact, I'd take a 2nd hand one over a new figured Epi any day. Great color too.

What are the pups like?

Price- UK they fetch 450-550 pounds so I'd say about right.

Re: My First Les Paul!

Jakey: Thanks! And yes, I dig Studios too, for the price-point  wink the pups are quite bright, but it's still a Gibson smile They have a lot of range to them and sound really great! Glad the price was fair  smile

Brandon- if ever you change the pups, do check out Bare Knuckle. I have them in my quilted LP and they rock. By saying that, the Busrtbucker 2's and 3's in the JBLP are jaw droppingly good.
