Re: Blues Deluxe Intro Lick - Lesson Video

Yep those are the right notes for Blues Deluxe.  You probably won't get much love because it wasn't with a Les Paul into a Marshall (or Strat like the original version) but I think you did a pretty good job at approximating the tone as well.  I play it with a slightly different fingering but you definately got it right.  I thought about doing an instructional for the solo but man that section really makes me sweat.  I'm a firm believer that Joe's old stuff was just more technically terrifying to try and play and that's saying a lot considering some of the work he's put out in the last few years.  So good job on Blues Deluxe but I'll really be impressed when someone on here nails "Revenge of the 10 Gallon Hat"....that song just makes me want to put it up for good!  cool

Yeah welcome to the forum dude! Joe's live version of BD on Youtube - Denmark? I think... - is one of the most incredible displays of tone and chops I've ever seen  tongue. For me, it is a "benchmark" for LP tone. Wanna hear how an LP should sound? Cue it up and drool.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gn09Xn9JF5s

Re: Blues Deluxe Intro Lick - Lesson Video

That particular show has always baffled me as far as the amps go.  I LOVE the tones he got during that shooting, but at least 2 of the amps are not in his regular rig.  I couldn't make out the tan Dumble looking amp and have never seen it in any other of his rigs american or european.  The Plexi has a strange logo on it as well...definately not "marshall".  Sick tones and playing however, BTW love the nod to Van Halen with the pulloff/harmonic hand sweeping technique.
