Topic: Acquired a 2x10 cabinet

I frequent another forum (don't hit me, I love this forum lots too) of guitar geeks and one of the clan is moving abroad. He needed to sell up his bulky gear. One piece of this is a Torres 2x10 speaker cab. He built it from one of their kits and it looks solid and snazzy in it's purple trim.

It fitted with a vintage 30 and a greenback, wired at 4 ohms.
My questions are what kinda sound will I be getting with 10" speakers? Would I be better fitting 12" speakers in it? What kinda head would go well with it? Will it make my blues deluxe sound better?

12's will sound nicer IMO.

It's like comparing a 2x10 princeton to a 2x12 Twin Reverb
The Princeton is nice, but I'll take the Twin in a Pepsi Challenge.

Ten inch speakers can be very powerful.  My dad replaced some speakers in a bassman combo he had.  He put two ten inch webers in a cabinet with a 66 ish bassman.  He has played that head thru 12's, a 15, and now the tens.  The 10's sound amazing. And I am a 12 inch speaker kind of guy. Fender twins, AC30's, AC15's, Blues juniors.

I was amazed how great this combo sounded with the 10's.  I think DR Z is puting out some combo's with 10's more often now. They are great speakers... think, Bassman's, Vibrokings, Super Reverbs.

Thanks for the info. Plan one has failed, which was to get an orange tiny terror. Mainly as you can't run I with a 4 ohm cab.

Plan two is to try it with my blues deluxe and see how it sounds. I have a feeling I'll be getting some 12" speakers and a router though.
