Topic: Fulltone Full-Drive II

Folks,

Just got one of these today.  I tried a couple of the settings from the last topic (Holy Grail) a couple of weeks ago.

I just can't get this thing to sound better going into the Creiatone 2550 than going styraight into the amp.  Could some of you share settings for this box and where you put it in the effects chain?  I'm assuming in front of the amp.

Thanks for your help.  I also have an OCD that I use on my second amp (1974X clone)  Does it make sense to set the Full - drive and a somewhat low setting, then add the OCD when I need a boost?

Jim

Re: Fulltone Full-Drive II

Which channel are you running it on the Jub Clone? Clean or Dirt? I don't have a Fulltone but have thought about getting one. I use the carl martin on the clean channel for a mild OD. And the Dirt channel on the Jub for More, still can't get the volume level right the only thing I hate about those amps.

Re: Fulltone Full-Drive II

Yeah, in front of amp with amp on clean channel.  I see the Full Drive as best used as a boost.  Personally , I would have drive setting at very minimal (7-9pm) and put OCD with heavier drive setting (12-4 pm) in front of it stacked - so OCD, then Fulldrive.  I would leave Fulldrive on all the time and when time to solo or for more OD just stomp on the OCD.  If you ever even need a little more boost during solo, then hit boost on Fulldrive - that's how I would do it for good or bad.

When OCD is not on, yuo can clean up the little bit of Overdrive from light setting on Fulldrive with volume knob on guitar.

Re: Fulltone Full-Drive II

I'd set the Jubilee to moderate gain on either channel and use these settings on the FD2:

volume 10-11 o'clock
tone 9-10 o'clock
gain 10-noon
boost 3 o'clock -full blast (hey...why not lol)

FM or Vintage depending on how much midrange you need
Standard or Mosfet depending on taste (I usually use the Mosfet mode)

This works for me in front of most amps.

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

Thanks everyone

Re: Fulltone Full-Drive II

I run my ocd and fulldrive the other way around. I have the OCD on all time and use the fulldrive as a boost My signal goes wah-fulldrive-ocd-other stuff. I kepp all knobs on the OCD at 12 o'clock and in HP mode. I have the fulldrive in vintage mode. Volume 12 o'clock, tone 12 o'clock and overdrive between 7-9 o'clock.

OCD does great rythm and some lead tones like this using the guitars volume knobs and when i need some kick i step on the fulldrive.

Re: Fulltone Full-Drive II

I see that many of you run whatever it is you're using for an OD boost in FRONT of the main OD pedal. I've been doing things backwards for quite some time. I see the difference now. Currently I'm running a Marshall Guv'nor as my main OD with an OCD before it as a boost. Works nicely. I have a dumpload of pedals - more than I should - but that's the peril of playing in a cover band. My board looks like this:

Boss TU2 > CryBaby wah > OCD > Guv'nor > Boss PS-3 > Boss Chorus > Boss DD-3 > MXR Micro Amp

Too much, too much, too much. I'll probably still wind up tinkering with it and putting my other OCD back in there somewhere. Where will it end???

It never will. I think the HRD is a great base to start though. trying out new pedals is fun and also a lot cheaper than changing amps every 2 weeks.

StratPaul guy.  Your settings are it!

Re: Fulltone Full-Drive II

Are these worth the money over a TS-9, 808, or Marshall Guv-nor?
I'm trying to decide between these four....

Re: Fulltone Full-Drive II

NPB, are you referring to the Fulldrive? It's cheaper than the TS, I think. I have both TS9ri and 808ri and I think they're ok but overpriced. My Fulldrive-2 eats them for breakfast. I suggest to try them all with your gear and then decide which of them suits YOUR needs best. Regardless the cost.

The Fulldrive II... is what I'm looking at.

+1. YouTube is great, but doesn't do the job. I had a Fulldrive II and it sounds great online and in all the pro rigs out there, but it didn't work for me. The OCD was the choice for me. It is expensive, but you need to try the stuff through your own gear. The bright side, at least for the Fulltone products, is that they retain their costs extremely well so if it doesn't work for you, you can eBay or Craigslist it and get most of your money back. I actually made 10 bucks on my Fulldrive. Go figure.
