Topic: Marshall Class 5 tubes

Hey guys,

I've noticed over the last few times I've played the amp that it is loosing volume.  Now, I have to turn it up to 10 to get what used to be around 3.  My question is this, how bright should the tubes be glowing?  Cause I look at them and the are just a dim orange.  I never paid attention to them till now, but the only explanation I have for the loss of volume is that the tubes are going bad.  It was fine in the store when I bought it about 3 weeks ago.  Any advice?  If the tubes are bad, which ones would you recommend that i put in the amp?

Thanks!

Re: Marshall Class 5 tubes

This is not normal. I would take it back to be checked by a tech, especially if it is only 3 weeks old. The heaters should glow brightly so it may be a power supply issue in the amp, or a shorted tube. Tubes should be good for 2,000 hours of normal use.

Re: Marshall Class 5 tubes

If the tube has a big "X" from a sharpie on it does that make it a B stock???  Because I got 3 tubes like that in my amp now not a class 5 though.
