Topic: amp switcher 2 amps

I have long thought about getting an amp ABY switcher for my 2 amps but what stops me  is this

1 AMP ON  SELECT A - HAS AMP A ON AT DESIRED VOLUME

2 SWITCH TO SELECT B HAS AMP B ON AT DESIRED VOLUME

3 SWITCH TO Y COMBINES BOTH AMPS, BUT VOLUME NOW INCREASES WITH NO CONTROL??

Is there a pedal  that allows you to control the volume level when both amps are selected ??

ie make them quiter so that when you select 1 amp only the volume is the same

thanks for any info

Re: amp switcher 2 amps

The Voodoolab Amp Selector has level controls for each amplifier.  However, they are not dramatic in their effect...more useful for fine tuning volumes.  The volume jump is the product of adding volumes.  2 cranked up 50w amps should be putting out roughly 100w, at least that's the theory anyway.

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

ahhh that looks like what I need so you can alter the volume of combined amps to same level as single amp on ??

I dont want to be pickky but this looks a bit big for my pedal board looking for something more compact

Re: amp switcher 2 amps

you could put two volume pedals RIGHT after the ABY switch... but it sounds like a lot of messing around  hmm
Or maybe get one amp at "constant" volume and put the volume pedal between one amp the the aby.... going louder or quieter than the constant volume amp.

Re: amp switcher 2 amps

I've learned to just roll the volume back on the guitar to compensate for the volume increase when I switch both amps on.  It's a low tech. solution but the only one I can control easily.  Best of all is that this issue no longer frustrates me!
