Topic: new plexi advice

Hi there i currently have a dsl jcm 2000 50 watt that i think is ok, i am contemplating a getting a plexi type amp for under 1000 pounds, i have no idea on all the different type of plexi's for exmaple i couldnt tell you the diff between a jtm and a jmp, all i know is that i wont need above 50 watts, so i am looking for that big fat joe/gibbons tone, any reccomendations on a kinda budget

Re: new plexi advice

Marshall 50watt 1987x reissue/or Metroamp 50watt kit (build your self).
Actually go for the marshall reissue , "it's loud" and outstanding replica of the real 1987 plexi.

Re: new plexi advice

I'd endorse Metro amps or even Ceriatone and have one made for ya. Buying vintage is more expensive, and the clone parts are just as good, or even better, or at least vintage spec. Very cool time to be in need of a Marshall amp these days.

Re: new plexi advice

Check out dennis cornells amps. He makes a plexi reissue type. Gary Moore uses 1 and so does Robbin trower I think. New they will be out of your budget but you mught be able to pick up a second hand one.

Re: new plexi advice

I'm currently looking at this myself as well. I'm almost definitely going Ceriatone unless I find some steal on craigslist or ebay. Nik over at Ceriatone is a really great guy! When they say he responds to emails fast, they REALLY mean it smile

Re: new plexi advice

Check out englisg valve amps. They do handwired plexi types and prices are pretty good. Just found they do a 2 watt plexi head for £275. They do various power settings and prices are all under £1000.

Re: new plexi advice

Nice...I'm going to have a really good look at those.
