Topic: new les paul

i want to buy a new les paul as obviously i can't afford a 59 or one of the pearly gates ones that also cost stupid money.

so what is the answer?

Re: new les paul

Custom Shop '57 and '58 reissues can be had for around $2400-$2600 all day long used.  They aren't as pretty as the uber flame tops and the necks are typically thicker.  However, the TONE is all there.  Also, a Les Paul Classic is a great deal especially if its an older one.  The newer ones are super light and hollowed out...not my thing.  They are my favorite sounding of the USA model LP's.  You could always drop some Burstbuckers or '57 classics in one if you aren't crazy about the pickups.

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

Re: new les paul

How much are you looking to spend?

My Goldtop Traditional was a good buy under $2,000....swapped out the cream plastic for black...just disconnected the caps tot eh tone controls thus bypassing them all together....ala Robben Ford....and this baby screams...super clear...I use it for songs that were originally done with single coil guitars...

but she sounded killer without the mod....the classic 57 and 57 plus are as hot as the BB2 and BB3 in the JBLP...not quite as good sounding but gets you int he ball park....

a used 58 or a 57 are great buys...i picked up a new 58ri with a very thin neck...thinner than most 59's...the blues and jazz tones out of her are so smooth and warm...thus the reason why she is my #1....

just some thoughts....

2009 Gibson Les Paul 1958 VOS (with black plastic)
2008 Gibson Les Paul Traditional Goldtop (with the cream plastic from the 58RI)
> Marshall Bluesbreaker 2 pedal >Boss sd-1> DD3 > Vox Ac15cc1

Re: new les paul
