Topic: Do The i-pod Shuffle

So what "other artists" have you got hidden away on your i-pod's that you'd rather keep to yourself?

This is a bit of fun I picked up from another forum - and you have to be honest...........

So - set your i-pod to shuffle and tell us the first ten songs it throws up.

Here's mine:

Jimi Hendrix - Izabella
Sensational Alex Harvey Band - I Just Want To Make Love To You
Ian Seigal - What’s Gonna Take My Damn Soul?
ZZ Top - Fool For Your Stockings
Rod Stewart - Sweet Little Rock ‘n Roller
Rory Gallagher - A Million Miles away
Lynnrd Skynnrd - Working for MCA
Rolling Stones - It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll
Aynsley Lister - Balls of Steel
Rolling Stones - Beast of Burden

It's been reasonably kind to me (if not to Joe - I always said technology can't be trusted).

Give it a shot - let's hear what ya got!
There has to be some stuff out there that will embarrass folks - and you have to be honest with us now.....

Ian

Please be in no doubt that this is the REAL ME! Beware imposters........................

Re: Do The i-pod Shuffle

To be honest I never use this option, but as I am sitting here at work, I'll give it a try:

Foo Fighters - Cheer Up Boys
Indigenous - Born in Time
SRV - Little Wing
Jimi Hendrix - Jam 292
Robin Trower - What's Your Name
Papa George Band - Down at the Station
Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars
Michael Mark Band - All Messed Up
Queens of the Stone Age - Gonna Leave You
Gov't Mule - Forevermore

Interesting, maybe I should use this more often, but buying so many new albums, I tend to listen to those the most.

West Ham 1 Wolves 3 - Happy days Icon!!!!!!

Re: Do The i-pod Shuffle

Great thread and an amusing way to spend a few minutes over lunch, Ian. I thought I was doing well until I got to number 10! lol Oh well, at least you can see I was being totally honest – it's there for K to listen to on holiday - honest.  hmm

lol I just saw in the preview before posting what the forum software has done to the last title. I'm sure you can guess the offending word (and if you can't, I don't believe you.)

1.    ZZ Top – Legs
2.    Led Zeppelin – What Is And What Should Never Be (from How The West Was Won)
3.    AC/DC – Inject The Venom
4.    Rory G – Lonesome Highway
5.    David Gogo – I Feel So Good (from Live at The Deer Lake)
6.    Cream – Anyone For Tennis (of all the great Cream tracks it had to pick this one!)
7.    AC/DC – Money Made
8.    EC – Forever Man
9.    Gov’t Mule – Broke Down on The Brazos big_smile
10.    Elton John – The #@$@# is Back

Like you, I’m amazed that nothing by Joe has come up as sometimes he pops up a couple of times in a row. Equally weird is the fact that tracks from the only two AC/DC CDs on my player cropped up. yikes However, I’m not surprised that something by Gov’t Mule came up as I have tons of their stuff.

Let’s see if we’ve heard of any of the tracks that your player picks, Curby. big_smile I know you have a very catholic taste and have some very interesting stuff in your collection.

Joe, how about having a go? I know you’ve got some very eclectic music on your iPod from your Planet Rock shows. Give it a go.

Re: Do The i-pod Shuffle

This is fun.  I have two iPods - my older one has ALL of my music on it (over 6,000 songs).  This spit out:  You Upset Me baby - Joe B at the Wetzel Morotrcycle Club (torrent)
Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Muleween at the Orpheum 2008
Runaway Trains - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
South of the Border - Willie Nelson
                        Demon's Eye - Deep Purple
                        Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix
Run Like Hell - Pink Floyd
                        Waste - Smash Mouth
Long Road Home - Back Door Slam at the Fillmore (torrent)
                        Highway Chile - Jimi Hendrix
Can't believe one of my husband's George Strait numbers didn't show up - maybe it finally got the message that I really dislike it!

My other iPod, which is a touch, I put less music on (only about 2000 songs) - stuff I tend to want to listen to more often.  These came up:
I Know - Derek Trucks at Hot August Blues
Don't Burn Down that Bridge - Joe at the Cheese and Grain
                      Self Destructive Blues - Joe
                      Lonesome Roads - Dwight Yoakum
                      Soundman - Aynsley Lister
                        Country Honk - Rolling Stones
Runnin Out on Me - Aynsley Lister
Blind Man in the Dark - Govt Mule
Feel Like Breaking Up - Govt Mule and Joe B
Big Sleep - Aynsley Lister (at Dingwall's)
I do quite a few torrents of artists I enjoy live - because of this I have over 700 versions of Joe's stuff on one ipod - around 400 hundred made the cut to ipod number 2 (all torrents are not created equal).  Have a lot of Derek Trucks, Mule and Back Door Slam as well.

Re: Do The i-pod Shuffle

Fun concept.... I was surprised at what popped up (and relieved...lol)

By The Sword - Slash / Andrew Stockdale
Can't Tame The Lion - Journey
I'm Broken - Seether / Evanesence
So Many Roads - JB
Spanish Boots - JB
Always On The Run - Lenny Kravitz
Want You To Say - Indigenous
Call On Me - Whitesnake
Never Change - Puddle Of Mudd
Tug Of War - Monte Montgomery

It could have come out much more eclectic...... I might try again later after more people chime in.

Re: Do The i-pod Shuffle

OK, I had to be a bit inventive about this. Not the songs but the method. I don't have an iPod and my old MP3 player is a bit knackered.

So I used Windows Media Player where I've got a lot of my music stored. First you have to create a playlist with all your songs in it, then select "shuffle" from the Play menu and then hit play.

Here's what came up....

Thin Lizzie - The Boys Are Back In Town

Derek Trucks Band - All I Do

Billy Cobham - Taurian Matador

Walter Trout - Outta Control (recorded from Paul Jones Show)

JB - India/Mountain Time (from Southampton Guildhall live recording)

Rory Gallagher - Wayward Child

Paul Gilbert - My Teeth Are A Drumset

Los De Abajo - Skapate

Black Stone Cherry - Sunrise

Gov't Mule - Monday Morning Meltdown (live at Melkweg, Amsterdam from Mule Tracks)

Re: Do The i-pod Shuffle

Here is the Murfdog contribution...I am just going to hit random play and give you the first 10: I use this option all the time when working out...it rules!

1. St.James Infirmary Blues- The White Stripes
2. Quitter- The Toadies
3.Way Down the Line- The Offspring
4.Woman- Wolfmother
5. Athens to Athens- Joe Bonamassa
6. Sign of the Times- Prince
7. Takin' the Hit- Joe Bonnamassa
8. Oh Pretty Woman- Gary Moore
9. Runnin' Wild- Airborne
10. Stop Breakin' Down- The White Stripes

This was so fun, I will probably wait a day and do it again!
