Caught Beth's 2 shows at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA. Beth did a great job, but at the second night's show we had quite an ordeal with the general manager. He didn't like the fact Phil was doing an audio recording so he hauled him off to the back to turn him in to Scott. We know Scott so when he saw Phil he shook his hand and was like "Hi, how are you doing?" GM was pissed and said, "This guy was recording!" Scott said, "he can record some of the songs just not the whole show." The GM was not thrilled, took Phil over to the entrance showed him a sign that said "no recording" and was talking about how he paid for Beth to be there. What that had to do with anything I don't know. This guy needs to get with the 21st century. Recordings and videos that are shared help bring customers into his place. Needless to say we were kind of freaked out for the rest of the night over the whole thing. Scott walked through the venue at one point after the ordeal, saw us and smiled and waved which was nice, but I don't think we will be going back to the Birchmere any time soon. I filmed 10 songs the first night and 4 the second. Was nice to hear the new songs off her upcoming album. "St. Teresa" was my favorite. It's very beautiful, yet quite sad.

Thanks for all the great videos Natasha. Glad you had a good time at the shows.
That GM ensured he got some negative publicity for his very unfriendly club. I still can't believe he pulled Phil into a back room. What is he, in the mafia? Geez. Hopefully if they go back to VA they'll be able to play a larger venue.
P.S. I don't even see the point in what he did because there are multiple versions of those songs already on YouTube...even the new ones.

Beth Hart: The 13th Floor Interview.

Recorded interview with Beth plus listen to the track "Tell Her You Belong to Me" from the new album (scroll down further on the page to find it.)

MD: Was there quite a bit of discussion between you and the producers as to how to capture this vibe that you’ve got, this kind of classic Soul sound. Did they want to try make it sound more contemporary or were you guys all on the same page with that?

BH: No we weren’t on the same page. I wanted to make a very Bluesy, Soulful/Jazz record. What they believed was, they thought it would be a good challenge for me to go back to a little bit more Singer/Songwriter like LA Song, Leave The Light On, stuff that’s a little straighter.

Re: Beth Hart

This is way late, but saw Beth live for the first time (well, that's ignoring the few songs with Joe at the Beacon Theater) at Park West in Chicago a few weeks ago.
The show has stuck with me since then...a really unbelievable performance, which is what I had anticipated. Park West is a wonderful, intimate venue and Beth was very engaging with the audience. I'll never remember the entire set list, but it doesn't matter. As the saying goes, she could sing the telephone directory and I'd buy tickets to hear it! One of a kind!

Thanks I'll check that out.

This interview Beth just did in Germany is really good. What a roller coaster of emotions in a 20 minute chat.

Re: Beth Hart

"...the promo tour, so far, has been interesting because I have not gotten such good feed-back before. And, like I said, it was 7-days in the studio and many weeks of mixing ( I chose not to be there for that mixing … on the first day of mixing I hated it so much!) I even started pulling myself out of it. I backed out and I said to my husband, my manager and my label ‘There is no way I am releasing this record… I’m just not gonna do it.’ It was more fear. It was me still feeling unable to stand in my own voice.”

“But then when I heard the final result I thought ‘Well, it doesn’t suck!”

Re: Beth Hart

I had the pleasure to see her last night in munich and she was.................fantastic. she played in a nice venue and was in top form. the whole Show was less "rocky" than shows i saw the years before. she played a lot from the new Album and everybody could feel how much in she was in some of this Songs. she sang her heart out and gave us four encores. outstanding numbers for me were mechanical heart, window of my mind, i´d rather go blind.  we had a great night and enjoyed every Minute.
she is such an outstanding singer that gives lot of goosebumbs and sometimes i think she is dangerous for the microphones.
