Re: New F1 season kicks off this weekend
the fact that every team has orders surely proves that the team structure has to change?
In bike racing top class; MotoGP, Yamaha have the 2 best riders in the world with Lorenzo and Rossi, - and they race against each other every time they get out on track as they have 2 very different garage setups, - the factory treat them with parity but there is a divide within their garage. Although in saying that I would not be confident that Honda would allow the Repsol boys to race against each other if points mattered for a championship as the Honda Repsol team being the full factory one and having a reputation for dictating.
Having been very close to bike racing for many years this type of lack of respect for the paying public does not go on to the degree that it does in FI. Sorry, no defense, - these teams are making a mockery of the sport whose principal aim should be RACING. And the fact that Coulthard said what he did as a BBC reporter is very disappointing as he appears to be normalising it.
Yesterday I watched the start of the race and Massa was out in front and struggling to keep Alonso behind him quite early on, - yep I turned it off as it was obvious what would happen.
This type of cheating is sooooo damaging and is what leads some to the generally held conclusion that those who are enthralled by FI are because of factors other than racing such as the pomp and ceremony (glamor) which is fine, each to their own. Myself I cannot help but see it as a sign of a dark side of our society where money is placed above all else.
