Yeahat that point I was probably be a bit frustrated. By lap 52 it had spiced up a bit but only as the group with fresher tyres started to move up the order.
I mean, a 33 second win is a cake walk, especially as he pulled that out from a safety car period. Webber is no mug, and yet in the same car he couldn't get past Rosberg. So a big part of it IS Vettel, and being out in front does give him better control. Even so. I guess if you factor that Alonso has a car that is a second off the Red bull then the fact he finished second only 33 seconds off Vettel means he did a brilliant job too!
Funny though that Webbers car breaks again as it has sooo many times these last 4 years. No conspiracy theories here, but RBull being the team that they are it is noticeable that often they only get one car to the finish without problems and that is normally Vettel's.
I have no doubt that Alonso, Raikkonen and Hamilton could all do a similar job in THAT car. Rosberg too, I think, so you can't really call him (Vettel), the best there is just now. He's just the guy with the best car and team doing a great job maximising the (small) advantage that he has.
That makes him a worthy soon to be 4 time World Champion I guess. Roll on next year.
I like F1 as much as I ever did, I just don't see how after the variety of 07,08,09 and 2010 it has got into this rut of a single team dominating again.
What I do find disappointing is how little progress the back 2 teams seemed to have made. I notice that Caterham and Marussia's qualifying times were almost 6 seconds off pole. I recall at the end of the last 5 year period most of the grid had closed to within a second and a half. These guys have got a massive job still to do. They need to be finding about 2.5 seconds just to get close to the midfield runners. Thats a lifetime in F1 terms.
I can't imagine what the motivation for Max Chilton is having to find 4 million quid+ just to sit in a Marussia and get lapped after 15 tours. I suppose it has always been so, but in the '70's/80's drivers at least had the chance to jump in a March, McLaren or older Lotus and pick up a point or two. It meant sponsors, teams and drivers got a better bang for their buck and the sport benefitted too.
I find it a shame they didn't allow year old cars to filter through to these guys. Wouldn't matter for next year of course as it is a whole new era starting.
