Topic: Help Needed With Speaker Cabinet / Orange PP2 2x12

I have a few low wattage heads and am real close to buying a Marshall Class 5 and want to get a speaker cab that I can use with the heads and the C5. I don't want to get a 4x12 cab because its waaaay to much for what I do (jam with friends and in the garage).

I've been checking out 2x12 cabs (not alot out there) and the Orange PP2 2x12 (Vintage-30's) open back has caught my eye. It is a 16ohm cab and I believe would be compatible with the C5 and my other heads.

So 2 questions.....does anybody have one or know anything about them and should my only concern be the 16ohm compatibility?

Any input would help.......Thanks.

Orange is a great company, I don't think you can go wrong.

BUT - If I was you, I'd shop for a used 2x12 Marshall cabinet... those ones that are the size of a 4x12. The extra real estate will give you some more bass response than the rectangular 2x12 cabs. Plus with the extra money you save from buying used, you can upgrade the speakers.

If money isn't an issue, have you checked out Tone Tubby 2x12 cabinets?
All the high end gearheads I know think these are all the rage:

Thanks for the feedback........Have you ever heard of Avatar Speaker Cabs.? I just stumbbled upon their web site. Pretty impressive.

Yup.

I was very tempted by them. They use those Hellatone speakers. They are actually a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker that has been taken apart, tweaked, and "broken in." They are supposed to be awesome.

Although I sometimes  roll  whenever I see "broken in" or "road worn." If you get a new speaker, play the thing! it will break in naturally.

I think companies are very good at using guitar jargon and buzzwords to lure and catch gearheads.

They also use regular stock Celestion speakers. They offer, what I beleive is, the entire line of Celestion speakers.

I'm really temped by this. Nice cab, great speaker selection, pick and chose finish and GREAT price. Seems like you can't go wrong.

I'd love to hear from a few users though. Think I'll post an "Avatar Speaker Cab" topic.
