Topic: Anyone tried Jeff Bobers East amps?

Knowing Jeffs Budda designs quite well and having tried what feels like most sub5-watters available, I decided to order the 2 watt East Amplification Studio2 designed by Jeff. He is one of the few designers that can make a mastervolume really work without too many compromises soundwise and I hope that goes for this amp as well  hmm

I have found only one soundclip and a few comments on TGP. Anyone here tried it yet?

While waiting for the head, I've built a sweet little 1x10 with an Eminence Ragin Cajun (what Jeff uses in the East Amp cab himself), and it really sounds good! I've only built cabs with Celestion elements before and this was a pleasant surprice. Really tight and deep bass, open and crisp but not to sharp and edgy. Not as warm as the Greenbacks and not as razorsharp as a V30.

Man, we'll be needing a FULL REPORT on that Amp when you get it!  big_smile

    I'm excited to see/hear those.

I have a Twinmaster 210Combo and a Twinmaster Plus Head. Incredible Amps! Can't wait for the EAST Amps to begin showing up.

    P.S.

I use Eminence Speakers almost exclusively nowadays. Really love the Texas Heats! And yeah, the 10" ones are also great.

That's the clip that made me order the amp, without having heard anything else about it, other than having played most Budda amps some time or another myself.
I'm kinda hoping for the Jeff Bober magic, at conversation level  roll
Probably asking too much, but if he can't do it, I'll probably give up and stick to attenuators and my Ceriatones.

I don't think that's asking too much from a 2 watt amp designed by Jeff. I've had a couple of Superdrive 30s and currently have a 45. I've always been able to get decent conversation level tones out of all of them, the 45 is a bit touchy though...

I currently have a Dr Z brake lite in my 45 combo, that works great for 3 out of 4 clicks (even the 4th click sounds pretty good). The 3rd click gets me down to the equivalent of a 17 watt amp, and has good low to higher volume tones.

How do you order one of these amps? How much are they going to run?

We're litterarly talking mailorder here - you'll need to email Jeff: pgampman@gmail.com
I think I ended up paying USD 1250 for a 240V model (240V is +50 on the 115V).
Not cheap, but still less than Carr, Fargen, Suhr and several other amps when bought here in Norway.

Theres more to read about East over at TGP (I hope linking to another forum is OK?):  http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showth … p?t=633443

Re: Anyone tried Jeff Bobers East amps?

Well, to answer my own q: Yes, I've tried it. Got it yesterday.

Even straight out of the box, I can say for sure that my hunt for the perfect lowwatt amp is over. It only took 2 years and some 10-15 attempts...

It is loud as hell - way louder than the Marshall C5, but the mastervolume works as all Bobers MV designs. Sounds great from whisper- to giglevel! It really sounds like the bigger Buddas, with way more controllable volume. Does the Marshall thing as well as any. Excellent string separation, clears up nicely when turning down the guitar volume, nice cleans and does anything from there to almost super highgain.
I'm in love  wink

Soundclips coming, as soon as time and tech-skills allows.

EAST amps are sick -- great stuff.  Here's what I've posted about them, hope it helps!

Two 12AT7s for the power section? Jeff's right...I haven't heard that being done before...
