Hi anyone help figure out whats wrong with my Les Paul
bought some graphtec saddles for my bridge fitted them no issues
but after setting my intonation . the G string whem tuned to G plays 8cents sharp on any fret yet if I
detune the G string by 8 cents then it plays alright on any fret.
may I add I have had this problem before the saddles were fitted I use 11-52s
Maybe check the nut grove... That's where I'd start. I must say though, that pressing down a string inherently makes it sharp because of the applied tension so it might just be pretty normal even though it seems a bit too much of a difference...
Well as Chris said, and if you have high frets that problem will be worse... Best bet is to take it to a pro for it to be looked at...

If you open tune the string to pitch, then fret the 12th fret and it's sharp, you need to adjust the saddle (away from the fret board) to lengthen the string.
Are you saying that the intonation is set correctly at the 12th fret, but not at any other fret you try?

Yes I have set the intonation and everything is perfect exept the G string .
what would be the issue with the nut ??
the grove could just not be deep enough resulting in an slightly high G string at the nut. It's really easy to fix but a pro will tell you exactly what's what and give you a real answer by actually checking out the instrument.
sounds like a nut height problem. Guitars are not rocket science.

I know they are not rocket science but I once ruined a strat nut by not using the correct files to
alter the grooves A lespaul nut is not so easily replaced so I will take it too a tech.

i have this problem with the g regardless if a guitar is tuned & intonated. the only guitar i've at least had less of this issue is with my prs md. when i set up a lp, i just have to get the bridge height right, then the sharping occurs less. i luckily have not had to mess with any nuts. i do squeeze hard at times--just have to breathe & relax
