Topic: Gretsch Dorado Questions

Some time ago someone gave my son an acoustic Gretsch Dorado.  It is a very nice looking guitar and the inlay on the frets is large compared to other guitars.  Has a very nice tone.  My son thought he wanted to use it as trade on another guitar, but once he saw the interest behind the counter at Guitar Center we rethought the trading.  Does anyone know anything about this particular model?  From the 1970's?

My thanks in advance for any info on this wink

Dorado's was gretsch's japanese line

From reading I dont think they are worth more than $300 (if you could get that price) however Japanese guitars are generally of very high quality and if it has a good sound its worth hanging on to it / finding someone who likes it for the sound and will pay the top asking price rather than just trying to sell / trade it in...

Re: Gretsch Dorado Questions

Thanks John  wink   After looking at these pictures, it is the 6029 Dreadnaught.  My son didn't really want to trade it, but ya' know how it can be when you see something you want...wheels start turning.....he loves the sound of the guitar, but is harder for him to play than others he has tried.....he has ended up with a Yamaha model, loves the tone & plays well for him and still has the Dorado...all's well that ends well  smile
