would love to hear robben and joe go after each other -- some scary licks there!!!!!
Kicking myself hard right now. Just found out Robben played here Thursday with the new group. Dang!!!! Missed it.
Nice vid. Thanks.
edit. His site is notorious for not posting gigs and didn't figure he would play here back to back months. Saw him 12/6 with the trio. Seems we get a lot of those Euro snowbirds in the winter. Rick
current deal has robben playing with Mike Landau -- that is a show to see!!!!
Rick,
Robben and Company could have communication breakdown as their theme song. I've never witnessed an artist with such lousy communication. For the longest time, the link to sign up to be on their e-mail list was an error every time you opened it up. Even when it finally did work, you never got anything. Just very strange...and yes Rick, also noticed before ...not updated tour info on his site.
None the less, what a super TALENTED guy Robben is, love him...we've only seen him once. Thanks for the link Guytron.
And I think the below clip is priceless. After a little bit in, Robben talks about his experience with meeting and playing on the Dark Horse tour with George Harrison, after his stint w/ Joni Mitchell and Tom Scott. My hubby is also a big Robben fan, but didn't really know of him when he saw the Dark Horse tour. In Philadelphia some of the rude fans booed Ravi Shankar...his set went on too long as he opened up for George. Indian music of that nature back then wasn't always tolerable for long periods of time. I'm not sure if this incident was just a "Philly" thing or fans across the tour found Ravi's set too long and unappealing. The tour was considered a disaster by some...and George was having voice issues...Robben may have been a substitute guitarist in place of Clapton, since they were like husband-in-laws, what good natured lads...geez, I'm glad I keep it simple by being a one man woman. Eric made up for things by giving George his touring confidence back and taking him to Tokyo a few years after he divorced Pattie.

I love Robben Ford as an artist but his marketing and people skills are lacking. The website was finally made over and is much better than it was but it doesn't matter if it isn't updated. He is camera phobic, Fan intolerant for the most part. He seems to be his own worst enemy.
I still own every thing he has ever done and am driving to Dallas in April to see him. I don't think that date is even on his site now. I found out because I get a blast from the theatre he is playing.
Thanks for the link Angela. Ravi was tough to follow if you didn't understand eastern scales and Raga construction. He rode the coattails of the Beatles and made a good buck from it.
It is frustrating to be a Robben fan. I have loved his stuff for a long time. No one approaches him when he is on and jamming, and he attracts superb musicians to his band. Like Joe, he isgreat recorded and better live. I was really bummed to have missed him here since it was the new group and promoting his new release. As Jim said, no cameras allowed. Here's the post of his gig in December, I got a nice souvenier.http://www.jbonamassa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=12152
