Topic: Joe's songs to start out

Hey people,

I'm taking guitar lessons and I'd like to learn some Joe Bonamassa songs.
Currently i'm learning the basics of the blues and how to use scales, improvise, etc ...
Last week we analysed "Bridge to Better Days". I was wondering what are some other good tunes of Joe to start with?

And for the Jimi Hendrix fans here: you can also recommend me good starter songs besides Hey Joe wink

Thanks alot!

Re: Joe's songs to start out

For Hendrix I always liked to jam to "Castles Made of Sand", "Foxey Lady", "Voodoo Chile", "Red House", "Catfish Blues", etc etc.

For Joe songs, some of the easier ones to start with are "When She Dances", "Around the Bend", "Django", "One of These Days" etc.

My current favorites to play are "Asking Around for You", "Happier Times", "The Ballad of John Henry", "Lonesome Road Blues", "Just Got Paid/Dazed and Confused", and "Walk in My Shadow".

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

Voodoo Chile? Do you mean Track 4 of electric ladyland, or Voodoo ChilD slight return? Always confuses me when people call slight return Chile. Either way, I'd definitely second Slight Return! I would say purple haze is a really good one to learn as well, and is not too difficult. I like Burning of the Midnight Lamp, isn't too difficult, and would be a good intro to the Wah-Wah. All Along the Watchtower is good too! Foxey Lady is awesome as well big_smile (Also, Castles Made of Sand had some parts that were recorded and played backwards if I remember right. I dunno, would that be the best to learn for a person starting out? Not questioning you stratpaulguy, so if some of the responses to your song suggestions sound that way, sorry, just trying to clarify for my own benefit ;P)

No problem bro, those are just some of my favorites.  I was actually referring to the extended jam "Voodoo Child" or "Chile" however it's spelled.  Track 4...yes I think you are right!  I'll be in the minority but I always liked that one better than "Slight Return".  Stevie's version just sounded nastier IMO so it kind of outshone the original for me.  YMMV though.  If it's Hendrix it ='s win in my book! cool

Finally, someone who likes Track Four (The Long One) better than slight return! Woot, we're in the same boat big_smile Still need to find tab to that song (Impossible to find online), or sit down some time and try tabbing myself. smile
