Hello to everyone here. This is my first post.

I am new to Joe's stuff and it's because of his connection to Glenn Hughes. I want to say that I am impressed with Joe's stuff and have much more to check out.

To the naysayers, Glenn is an absolutely amazing musician, singer, bass player and song writer. He has an incredible cataloge of music. Once I gave some of it a good listen I was hooked for life! Then I saw him live! I have been to hundreds of shows over the last 33 years and the 4 GH shows were amongst the absolute best and most memorable. It is scary how talented the guy is. I know that some may read this and think yeah right! The finished product will do all the talking I'm certain. And if they actually tour, it simply can't be missed!!

I can only imagine what Glenn and Joe as well as the others will come up with!! I have a feeling this is going to really be something though. Glenn put his current solo project on hold for this. He was very excited about recording that too. His last several have been extremely good. This project had to be the real deal for him to even consider putting that aside.

Someone wrote about Joe letting Glenn sit in at the Hollywood show. Does this person know how highly Glenn is regarded by other musicians? I would be willing to bet that Joe was honered to have Glenn play with him, as was Glenn to play with Joe.

Anyway, here's to a great record and hopefully a tour as well. I will be checking out more JB and will post my thoughts.

Welcome FY, I was the one who posted the comment about Glenn being invited to sit in with Joe. Not to take anything away from Glenn as I was aware of the buzz of him playing with Joe that afternoon when I stopped by during their soundcheck. There was a parade of guest players that evening, but Joe saved Glenn for last to do 2 songs of Glenn's with just Joe, Bogie, & Glenn. I thoroughly enjoyed Glenn with Joe as I had not been aware of his talents till that evening. My mental memory bank is overloaded with music info, but I found room to squeeze G. H. in there. The term "supergroup" just puts too much expectation on any music project IMO.

Ah, I think you're right. They set it up together. But only Satch was present all the time.

By the way, is Joe B in touch with Joe S?

Re: Super Group CD with Joe

Hey J Dawg,

I can totally understand Glenn being under your radar as you stated. He was under mine as well. I certainly knew of him from the Deep Purple MK 3 days and his short stint with Sabbath. But things went really bad for him after that and we are talking about the late 80's here. I figured he was out of the scene altogether. But that's where the net comes in and I kept reading all these glowing things about Glenn Hughes and I just had to check it out for myself. I have never looked back and his music never ceases to amaze!

Conversely I didn't know nmuch about Joe I must say. So this has indeed brought him into my consciousness. I'm glad it did too!! As to what you said, that makes perfect sense. I just didn't want you or anyone reading all of this to think "Glenn is an after thought" or anything to that effect. He is without a doubt one of the most talented musicians out there. Mindblowing at times! After getting a bit into the JB I really think that they are going to create some amazing stuff. I'm with you on the whole "supergroup" thing too. All too often these things stink. This one will be different I feel.

I agree, and I was also kinda surprised to see Joe himself call it that in his post, unless it was tongue-in-cheek as the rest of his post was.  Remember, it was a just a fan who titled the thread with that word, and everybody just ran with it, and now some people are a little disappointed because they weren't already familiar with 1 or 2 of the players... hmm, what were you saying about expectations?  But really, if you look into their musical resumes, they probably do still qualify, but I just don't like the term, period.  I understand that technically the definition of the word supergroup ("a rock music group whose performers are already famous from having performed individually or in other groups.") simply describes who a group is comprised of, but I think to the general public the word implies greatness or success too.  For that reason, it feels to me like a title that should be bestowed upon a band by the media or its fans, not self-declared.  I like the word "collaboration" better.  Plus it's always better to keep expectations on the lower side and then blow people away, rather than the other way around.

Ahh, that's an old favourite of mine. Although Satch can cover many styles, I dont find him as 'convincing' as Joe in all genres. But still, him and Joe are awesome on this jam! smile

Re: Super Group CD with Joe

The latest 'Twit' from Glenn (is that the right term ??)

And the rumours keep spreadin' about our Band... Songs:Music comes first.. Haven't been this excited since Joinin' Purple..GH

Also for those that may not be aware, Glenn sings a couple of tracks on Gary Moore's 'Run For Cover' album. The tracks are: 'Out Of My System', 'Nothing To Lose' & 'All Messed Up'. Killer songs - if the new album has a even a hint of this style I will be VERY happy.

Sorted out what to listen to on the drive to work today as well smile

I believe that G3 is Satriani's baby alone.  Vai is a long-time close friend so he has been in almost all of the shows, but I don't think he would say G3 is his idea.

In the past I was working on getting JoeB in one of the G3s.  I got to know a personal friend of Satriani's years ago and I was able to get personalized signed copies of several of JoeB's CDs (the Special Edition "SILT", "BD", & "Y&M") into JoeS's hands (thanks to this friend) when they were originally released.  I know Satriani liked what he heard (thanks again to this friend).  I've been keeping my fingers crossed for an eventual G3 tour with both Joes!

Re: Super Group CD with Joe

Mr Hughes has recorded his vocals with Blackmore, Galley, Moore, Norum, Kotzen, Thrall, Iommi, Travers, Bolin, Lynch, Kotzen, to name few. And with a powerhouse drummer in Bonham driving it all, this could be a major piece of Rock history.
Joe B will be here for a long time playin the Blues, but this is a chance for him  to show how diverse of a player he really is, and have some major fun while doing it. Although it might be late 2010 before we actually here the outcome, this news has already excited a lot of people around the music business.
