This is off topic(sorry) but, as you mentioned the GC Drum-OFF 2010, A young 19 year old called Ramon won the Drum-Off. I think he deserved the title. They had around 5 mins each, but Ramon had to be reminded twice, that his time was up! Sorry, can't remember his last name... but someone else might!

Kevin Shirley on Facebook:
The cat is out the bag! This is BLACK COUNTRY. Jason Bonham on drums, Derek Sherinian on keyboards, Glenn Hughes on bass and vocals and Joe Bonamassa on guitar and vocals. The songs are all original and they are all the very best players in the world!
Jason (Led Zeppelin, Foreigner) - a totally unique drummer and what a powerhouse, yet oh-so-tasty. Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Billy Idol, Alice Cooper) - super versatile, playing mostly overdriven Hammond in this ensemble. Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Trapeze) - bass and vocals and Joe Bonamassa is the best Blues guitarist around, adds his signature vocals. We're planning to get this out late summer! Perhaps if you're around San Bernadino about March 17.........
How far is San Bernadino from Oxford? Perhaps a bit far for a quick trip. My birthday is St Patrick's day and THAT would be some birthday present
Hey, no problem Curryman. I can hook you up with one of the dive trips to Cedros Island for cage dunking with the Great White Shark. What a combo trip that would be.

5,376 miles in a straight line according to Google Earth. Just think of all the frequent flyer miles you would get.

Thanks Rick but I don't go far off the beach let alone grinning at sharks. Now some hot'n'spicy SoCal food - that's more my style.

we may be coming Newport Beach way in the summer but the Black Country gig will be long gone by then.
Commented Shirley: "So there it is folks — the cat is out the bag! This is BLACK COUNTRY.
"I am producing the debut album and we already have six tracks cut.
"We're going to do the next session in March when I'm through with my current project, and I hope to finish in early April.
"The band is Jason Bonham on drums, Derek Sherinian on keyboards, Glenn Hughes on bass and vocals and Joe Bonamassa on guitar and vocals. The songs are all original and what a lineup! They are all the very best players in the world, for my money!
"Jason Bonham is a totally unique drummer and a supreme, yet oh-so-tasty powerhouse. Derek Sherinian is super-versatile, and is playing mostly overdriven Hammond organ in this ensemble and is the color on the palette. Glenn Hughes plays bass and sings with a range VERY, VERY few can even get close to, and Joe Bonamassa, perhaps the best blues guitarist around, plays hard riffing guitar as well as adding his signature vocals alongside Glenn.
"You'll just have to wait — we're planning to get this out late summer, and it's promising to be phenomenal!"
AWESOME! The keys part not a huge fan of, but if it's like JPJ/Zep keys, not too bad....
Well he stated that the keys are mostly overdriven Hammond. That would be very much like an old school Deep Purple type of sound. This is going to have a real classic hard rock vibe I'm sensing.

It sounds good to me too but could you FY or someone who inhabits the Gear section explain what the "overdriven" bit means. The Hammond B3 I know but.... help please on the tech stuff.
cheers
David
