Topic: Just Got Paid Amps?

Hey all-

I was just curious if anyone knows which amps and effects Joe uses for Just Got Paid? I know he uses the fuzz during the solo... to "make the amps sound like their about to blow up".

Thanks
Logan

Re: Just Got Paid Amps?

That's his "rude" Marshall tone if I'm not mistaken.  He uses the Jubilee/Category 5 JB100 amp combination.  Sometimes he has a Bogner XTC instead of the JB100.  Effects used are minimal, no chorus or reverb.  I think he just uses the DD3 for the solo and perhaps a tubescreamer to fatten things up.  Yes I've heard the fuzzface at times but it must be for the Jimmy Page solo sections.  And of course there's the theremin too.  He uses a volume pedal, DD-3 delay, into a Moog Etherwave Theremin.  I think he plugs the theremin into the top right input of his Category 5.

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

Wrong! roll
He uses a Moog Etherwave Theremin into a DD-3 delay and a volume pedal wink
The theremine doesn't change an existing sound, its generatig a sound!

Apart from this I think you're right.

Re: Just Got Paid Amps?

Wasn't a Theramin originally designed as an intruder alarm?

Re: Just Got Paid Amps?

wiki says the theremin was invented by a russian physicist called Leon Theremin / Lew Sergejewitsch Termen, and it seems like he tried to build a music instrument...

But its really possible somebody invented the good ol' alarm sound using a theremin... big_smile
