Re: America's Got Talent....Tallan "T-Man" Latz

Just saw Tallan on "America's Got Talent" and I'm happy to report he made it to the next round. But since I saw him this past Saturday night, I already knew he would! wink When asked who had influenced him Tallan replied, "Joe Satriani, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix and JOE BONAMASSA!

I must tell you, last Saturday night while Tallan was performing the song "Crossroads" with his Band, he used my name in that song twice. After hearing it once, I thought I was hearing things, but then I heard it again and I was flushed with humility. I guess little men that are 9 years old and think of you as their buddy do that to you. smile

Re: America's Got Talent....Tallan "T-Man" Latz

Thanks for the e mail this morning Roy. I never watch the show but it gave me a reason to relax and catch THE T MAN.   He had tears in his eyes at the end. What a sincere young man.   And the shout out to Joe was great.   Thanks Roy.

Take care everyone. And if I don't meet you no more in this world
Then ill, I'll meet you in the next one and don't be late, don't be late

Re: America's Got Talent....Tallan "T-Man" Latz

My mom popped in and told me to turn on the tv because a "9 year old kid is gonna play the guitar on America's Got Talent", and they were surprised to hear that I didn't want to see it! This isn't the forum to NOT show support for the lad on, but I thought they knew me better than that...

Re: America's Got Talent....Tallan "T-Man" Latz

Thanks Roy - been waiting for that video! smile

I actually hate these kind of shows and the "overnight sensation" (and forgotten in 3 weeks) Stars they create, but this could be a real chance for Tallan - so many people watch these shows. And he did such a great job up there on that stage! Obviously everyone in the audience loved it as well ... this little guy definitely will have a big carrer ahead of him if he contiues like that. Just amazing ...
Wasn´t it cute of "Dad" to say that it was Tallan who got HIM into the Blues? Always thought it was the other way round. wink

Re: America's Got Talent....Tallan "T-Man" Latz

Roy,

Tallan's a special talent and great things await him in the future.  I found myself equally impressed with his father - he seemed like genuine good guy.
Good luck winning the million!

Re: America's Got Talent....Tallan "T-Man" Latz

Actually Eva, it is just as Carl said, that Tallan got him into the Blues. It goes back to when Tallan was real young and he was watching a video of Joe Satriani. Both father and son have told me that he turned around and told his dad, "That's what I want to do when I grow up!" And so, Carl bought Tallan a guitar and they started him out in lessons. Carl has always told me that if someday Tallan decides that he doesn't want to do it anymore, that it will be over. But Carl has told me that Tallan is a never quit kind of spirit no matter what happens. He actually drives Carl rather than the other way around. Tallan's mom Doris, is a real sweetheart too! I can only hope for the best for their family.

Tallan told me the results of future shows, but mums the word. wink And no Eva, not even if you write me an E-mail will I tell you! tongue lol

Curby, you're right, Carl is a wonderful dad! Actually, Carl and I refer to him as "Roadie Dad", because Carl does all the work. big_smile He, Doris and Tallan always thank me for spreading the word of Tallan. I tell them, it's just something I would do for any good friend of mine. smile

Re: America's Got Talent....Tallan "T-Man" Latz

Roy,

Thanks for the heads up yesterday...Sharon and I had fun watching Tallan...We were both holding our breaths when Sharon O. asked him who his influences were...And then to hear his answer of Joe S., Jimmy H., SRV and JOE BONAMASSA...How cool was that?...He did a great job and it will be fun to see how far he is able to advance...Great exposure for the little guy and it was also very touching to see the relationship he has with his mom and dad...I hope all is well with you...Looking forward to seeing you again if Joe ever decides to return to the USA...

It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me...and, I'm feelin good

Re: America's Got Talent....Tallan "T-Man" Latz

Hey Joe,

Yes, I held my breath a little too when Tallan was naming off people. I'd like to share a story. Last year, Tallan had the opportunity to share the stage with Hubert Sumlin and the Willie "Big Eyes" Smith Band at a Blues show that I was at. Prior to getting up on stage, Tallan and his dad Carl were sitting at my table. A man, who apparently had something to do with the music busiess as a promoter, asked Tallan who had influenced him. Well, Tallan starts naming off Joe Satriani, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn and then he starts searching for names, so I whispered, "And Joe Bonamassa". Tallan didn't quite hear me, so he turned around and I said again, "And Joe Bonamassa." He then turned toward the promoter and said, "Oh yeah, and Joe Bonamassa!" Needlesss  to say, that cracked me up. Mind you, that was before Joe asked Tallan up on stage with him and the Guys. And also needless to say, Hubert Sumlin was impressed with Tallan that night too! smile

I think Tallan in his own way is still thanking Joe B. for the opportunity that he gave him this past March. You know, I haven't watched this in a while, so I think I will now. No one in Milwaukee that was there will ever forget this night!:

Enjoy,

Roy

P.S. And Joe, yes I hope we can get Joe B. to play some gigs stateside so maybe we can see him together again! wink

I can't believe the maturity level in his playing. He's really an amazing player..... I wish I was as good as he is.'

Eric,

I 've seen you playing on your videos and you're an excellent player! Keep praticing and someday all you young guys will be telling Joe B. to move over a little. wink

You know, I just can't believe how many great young players there are out there; many we never hear about. I know Carl, Tallan's dad, told me after they got back from the SRV Ride and Concert last year, that if I thought we had some great players by us, that I should see all of the great young players down in Texas. Needless to say, he was very impressed. Tallan has been invited back to Texas this year for the SRV R and C again and they are very much looking forward to it.

Re: America's Got Talent....Tallan "T-Man" Latz

That's Just Great Roy, A little talented man with a big heart a load of soul. Seems he's got great folks around him keeping him true, his dad was humble and sincere too and seems such a nice guy, and for the performance was just knockout, he may not be the most technically gifted 9 year old guitarist on the planet, but boy has he got purity and natural feel and charm too, that was raw and emotional stuff

Good Luck Tallan in the contest and the future
