Topic: Killer deal on guitar strings... if they are any good? Dean Markley

I was shopping for strings on Musician's friend and found they have a 12-pack of Dean Markley 1973 Vintage Reissue Electric Guitar Strings  for $29.99! That comes out to be around $2.50 per set.

Has anyone had experience with these strings?
I usually flounder between Ernie Ball 10's or DR's. And although I'm willing to try new strings, I'd like some confidence before I buy 12 packs of them, no matter what they cost!;)

Like Ketchup and tiolet paper, some things are worth the spending extra money on.

Dean Markley makes a good string, if they are cheap I say pick them up!  I always buy strings in bulk if possible because my hands sweat so bad...one week and my guitars need a restring! mad  My favorites are the med/heavy .010s-.048s D'Addario, they sell them in a 10-pack for about $40.  The cool thing was the last 10-pack I bought I got a free Planet Waves cable (about 20-30 dollar value) !  Anyways, I say buy em up!

I tried D'Addario once back in 1997, and i remember them turning to rust right away.

Has anyone extensively tested them agains Ernie Balls or any other brands?
I'm interested in testing the waters...

I used to use Ernie Ball Super Slinky all the time before changing to D'addario's. I've tried various other makes, as well, but have stuck with the Ds. I use 9s and have found them better than the EBs in terms of tone and playability. I've very rarely broken one and think they last a bit longer.

It's all down to personal preference at the end of the day and what feels and sounds right for you.
