Topic: ARE YOU LISTENING TO JON CLEARY?

Hi Everyone

The great Jon Cleary cool is currently on the Paul Jones cream of R 'n' B BBC Radio 2 show.

If you aren't listening, you should be! wink

If you've missed it.  You can check it out on "Listen Again". big_smile

Paul Jones is a very big fan of Jon Cleary and highly recommends his music.

I do too :!:   I was lucky enough to see Jon Cleary at two gigs last year and also at the Cranleigh Arts Centre.   big_smile

He's a very nice guy too.  wink I got chatting to him after the CAC gig. smile

In the interview Jon Cleary says that he lost most of his record collection etc. in the terrible New Orleans floods.  sad     How awful!  sad

Yes, I listened to some of it. He sounds like a nice guy with no airs and graces. Worth a listen if you missed it, for the music and the stories of his musical background.

“The guy who has helped the blues industry the most is Joe Bonamassa and I would say he is more rock than some rock stuff, so to me blues is whatever you want it to be!”

Re: ARE YOU LISTENING TO JON CLEARY?

Yeah, I heard most of it CJ. Great story about how he came to play in the bar in New Orleans....talk about being in the right place at the right time. He's an excellent piano player...I love that kind of stuff.
What a crying shame he lost most of his stuff in the flood, he must have been very sick about that, at least he lived to tell the tale.

Matt Schofield is going to be on next weeks show and BB King.....sounds great.

Tripsy smile

I heard it too, I enjoyed hearing about Storyville too lol

I saw Jon last year at the Edinburgh festival, he's a class act, if not too my usual taste. Oli Brown raves about him! smile
Next week indeed sounds good.

Re: ARE YOU LISTENING TO JON CLEARY?

My son spent his 21st birthday in New Orleans and went and saw Jon Cleary on New Years Eve. He thought he was great and that I would like him. He brought me a CD which is on my Ipod in heavy rotation. I'm a big fan and got to see him with his regular gig playing in Bonnie Raitt's band. I recomend him Eva. smile It is some funky NewOlens stuff.
