Topic: Robin Trower - June 5

Robin Trower & Band played to an enthusiastic audience at the House of Blues in downtown Houston last nite  This is the 3rd time I've seen him in the last 4 years, and it is utterly amazing what this 60-something year old legend can still do with his Strat.  This time was much more comfortable for me, sitting in the Balcony of the HOB instead of straining my vertically-challenged body to peer around hundreds of taller folks packed onto the floor at the Meridian.  From my excellent bird's nest vantage point, I really got to see the full display of Trower's skills (and facial expressions), as he alternated between attacking and caressing the strings to produce his signature searing guitar sound.  It was a pretty quick, but nice 85 minute set, with no extra BS in between songs:
Somebody Calling
For Earth Below
Shame The Devil
Time And Emotion
No Time
The Fool And Me
Day Of The Eagle
Bridge Of Sighs
Go My Way
Victims Of The Fury
Rise Up Like The Sun
Hannah
Little Bit Of Sympathy
Encore:
Too Rolling Stoned
Another Time Another Place
Not sure if he'll be back around, but it was definitely a pleasure to see Robin Trower again and always nice to hear Davey Pattison's singing.

Re: Robin Trower - June 5

He was one of my earliest guitar heroes in the seventies, along with Rory and Nils Lofgren. Saw him many times then with the late, great and very underated Jimmy Dewar on vocals and bass.

Caught him again for the first time in many years last year in Hannover with Davey Pattison and he proved he still has the chops and then some.

He's coming to Hamburg shortly with Jack Bruce and Gary Husband on drums so I shall be getting tickets for that. Should be a good evening. The stadium days may be long gone but I'm glad he still likes to hit the road. Catch him while you can I say
