Topic: Help!

After sifting through nearly all the posts on gear, amps and guitars i'm baffled to say the least. I do play guitar, mainly electro acoustics and I own a very beautiful Takamine Nashville TNV360SC, affectionatley known as Bruce big_smile

I guess i'm a decent guitarist, but I feel like I'm missing out on something here... i.e. Knowledge! I can play the thing it's just knowing how to get the best out of it and trying to understand all this guitar jargon is hurting my head! I usually get my brother or dad to do all setting up and fiddling about with it, then I just plug it in and play. I've never had lessons, and have learnt most of what I know from watching and making it up as I go along...

Has anybody got any tips, tricks, books they can recommend, a dictionary!?! Anything?!? Argh!

Re: Help!

Becky, spend a couple weeks at a place like this:

www.thegearpage.net

You'll be a gear pro in no time!  Be warned though, it's a very expensive place to hang out.  BTW you could always post any questions you may have about guitars, gear, tone etc here and I'm sure you'd get plenty of help.

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

Re: Help!

Everyone has felt similar at some point. I'm not all that in the know, but I know a fair bit now. Thanks to forums like this and youtube videos of guitarists such a Joe talking about their gear.

Search for guitar tech videos on youtube, always a good help if you find some.

Re: Help!

Thanks for the link...that gear page looks really handy... good job I have 3 weeks off work.... uh yeahhhhhhhh!

I don't feel such a numpty now. I'll be talking the talk in no time, I hope! I'll probably be taking up the offer of asking questions on here, so beware!

How much do you think Joe is to rent for a couple of months? lol big_smile

Thanks again
