Topic: PAUL JONES WITH THE MANFREDS AT HASLEMERE HALL, SURREY 15TH MAY!

Hi Everyone

There is a great chance for JB fans to see Paul Jones cool in action along with The Manfreds cool, at my local Haslemere Hall, in Surrey UK.  This coming Friday, 15th May! wink

They do a lot of the early Bo Diddley influenced blues "54321", "Hey Bo Diddley", I'm Your Kingpin, plus three Dylan numbers "Just Like A Woman", "Mighty Quinn", "If you gotta go, go now".  Lots of other great stuff too.  They are extremely lively and marvellous fun! lol

Please come along and help us fill Haslemere Hall up if you happen to live anywhere in the Surrey, Hampshire, Sussex areas. smile

Please support local live music and help keep it alive especially in my little town. smile

Selling a gig in my small town is a nightmare mad as  we have three flyer snatchers that go through our town ripping down all the live music/blues flyers/posters everytime I put them up, which is every afternoon!  The snatchers rip them down every morning. yikes  Then I go round putting them up again in the afternoon!   I'm expecting them all to arrive back in my garden on Saturday, 16th May! roll

Our local promoters will give up putting live music gigs on in our town. sad I suppose that this is what the flyer snatchers mad want, but why should we let them win?

There are a lot of people in my town who really do enjoy live music, but are really busy and the only way to get their attention is to put the flyers/posters up everywhere, except that they don't stay up long enough!

I'm hoping that some of you great JB fans will be able to help us. smile

Re: PAUL JONES WITH THE MANFREDS AT HASLEMERE HALL, SURREY 15TH MAY!

Hi Again Everyone

Well I certainly feel like I'm living in a desert of musical ignoramuses!   sad

The tickets for The Manfreds at Haslemere Hall are still selling rather slowly. sad

Don't the people in my town know that they have six musical geniuses playing at their local hall this week.  roll

I put up masses of flyers all round our town yesterday, but by this morning the flyer/poster snatchers mad will have ripped most of them down, so I'm just preparing to go out and put them all up again.  roll

If we don't sell out the promoters won't be putting anymore good live bands on at Haslemere Hall, we will just have the odd tribute band.   sad  mad

On Friday evening (19th May) there is a great opportunity for all JB fans  cool to get to hear the amazingly awesome Paul Jones cool playing his harp close up, in Haslemere Hall.  His harmonica playing/solos are as dynamically awesome big_smile as JB's guitar playing. big_smile The rest of The Manfreds are all musical geniuses too!  big_smile

Hoping to see some of you at Haslemere Hall on Friday.  smile  to help save live music in Haslemere, Surrey.

I'm recognizable by the headphones that I will be wearing. hmm

Hi Catfish Jane,
I really admire your efforts in posting fliers up in your town even tho it sounds like you're fighting a losing battle sad

I posted up fliers for Jay Tamkin when he played near us recently. I managed to get them in shop windows, garages, takeaways and music shops. There was only one person who said no and that was just their policy.

Good luck with your efforts to keep live music going in your town and drumming up support for Paul Jones and his band, they are terrific, I love his harp playing.

I would be there but it's too far for us sad

All the best .....Tripsy smile

Re: PAUL JONES WITH THE MANFREDS AT HASLEMERE HALL, SURREY 15TH MAY!

Hi Tripsy

Fans of The Manfreds cool have been known to fly from Brazil and the States to their gigs big_smile, but I know that most budgets don't stretch very far!

I do know that there are some JB fans in my area, somewhere, as I've seen them wearing JB t shirts to a Cranleigh Arts Centre blues gig.    smile

I've got a lot of local shopkeepers to put up Manfreds posters and flyers, so they are up all around the town smile, but we have to put them all over the place to catch the eye of as many people as possible.  We do our best, but if people ignore them, what else can we do. hmm sad

Was the Jay Tamekin gig a success?  Did it sell out?

People in my town are very reluctant to go to see anyone they haven't heard of before, but they should have heard of The Manfreds. roll

I'm off again soon to put up my last lot of flyers, maybe, some people will turn up to the gig on Friday night.  smile

I'm also going to be handing them out at the Dani Wilde gig, at the Farnham Maltings Boogaloo Cellar Bar Blues Club this evening.  That's a really great venue, as it's not so big and expensive to hire.  I think that we need somewhere like that in my town, but finding the right venue and persuading the promoters to put such gigs on is not an easy task. sad

The Dani Wilde gig should be really great.  smile  Have you seen her?

Re: PAUL JONES WITH THE MANFREDS AT HASLEMERE HALL, SURREY 15TH MAY!

Hi Catfish Jane,
Unfortunately the Jay Tamkin gig was not well attended but I put this down to a few reasons. One it was a thursday night one week before pay day (for a lot of people) even tho the gig was free. The pub has only just started putting bands on again after having a refurb and a new manager. He is a big live music fan so hopefully the reputation will build up over the coming months.

I have seen Dani Wilde and she is excellent! What a voice...her guitar playing's not bad either.
Her brother Will Wilde was playing harmonica. She has a guitar player called Ben Poole who is a big Joe fan too.  Here is a video I took of them playing Mannish Boy

There are a few more there too.

Have a great night tonight and say Hi to Dani from me.
