Great gig. Joe really hit the heights with his performance. From where I was sitting (stalls M) the sound was poor. The sound as a whole was LOUD! I couldn't hear the keys and didn't really hear the horn section except for the excellent Sax solo. The sound on the acoustic section was very harsh and on the whole the overall balance was severely lacking. Its the first time I've been to the Albert Hall and I was expecting the sound to be great but it was far from that. Clapton was a highlight for sure. He was never coming back on again though because they removed his amp after he played! The band was really rocking and with the two drummers it reached some memorable moments. Joe didn't play Bridge to better days, shame! However, all said and done it was a great preformance and Joe gave it his all. I think he played over 2 hours which is amazing!

For me it was the "gig of the year" - incredible!!! - the sound is always going to be a bit of a problem, depending on where you are seated, but the venue itself is amazing - such history and grandeur - the fact that Joe also got Eric Clapton to appear on stage with him is a true reflection on his rise to the top - hat's off to the man - when Joe said at the end of the show that it was the best night of his life, who could argue??? Truely a gig you'll never forget!!!

I agree - I thought the acoustic set was great. Sure, it was a bit brash sounding when Joe did the heavy slaps but the key thing was how well he worked the dynamics. That's a pretty tricky thing to do, and to pull off those subtleties in the cavernous RAH was a great achievement!

I'll skip on the 'better than Eric' comment except to say that I think it was Sir Isaac Newton who said "If I have seen further it is only by standing on the shoulders of giants" smile.
