Apologies if this has been posted before. I was going to ask Joe about this when I saw him at Manchester but it was a cold wet night and I didn't want to be the one that caused him to chill too much and get another dose of Flu.

Many artists use radio links from their guitars to their amps (Angus Young being notable in this respect, but he needs it or he'd tie himself in knots) is there a technical reason Joe prefers to use cables, I suppose there must be a price to pay, just wonder what it is? Now Joe is moving around bigger stages, I noticed that Dave has an extension he can plug Joe into, just seems very retro to me! There was one fitted to the accoustic on stage but I seem to remember Dave taking it off after sound checking the instrument!

Are you talking about wireless for the guitar?  If so, I know a lot of people think that cables sound much better than wireless.  Wireless sometimes can sound a bit stale (especially if you don't have a good one).  So that might be the reason Joe doesn't use one, but it's also just a matter of personal preference.

I know I quit going wireless a long time ago.  I couldn't find a unit that didn't color or alter the sound.  I just didn't like the way they sounded and I tried most of them out there at the time which was back in the mid to late '90's.  However, I hear the Line 6 unit is pretty happening.  I know Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow) likes it a lot and he's really into great tone.
