D-man, was that the SNACK benefit that the Tubes also played at? If so I didn't make that one, but heard the Zep fans tried to boo the Tubes off the stage as well as throwing anything they could at them as well. The Tubes were about 10 years ahead of their time.

The Beach Boys on Steel Pier in Atlantic City (late 60's) -I have no idea who I went with, but I was up front and right, smashed against the stage, right underneath Mike Love, who I remember as being very entertaining jumping around...I could have touched his foot I was that close!

Next was either Edgar Winter & White Trash while visiting relatives in Florida or The Three Dog Night when One hit the charts. big_smile

Ok, my turn to chime in........1967, the summer of love in golden gate park (S.F.).....but i had no idea what it all meant or that was where we were going to on that july day....so, the very first one was a planned birthday wish....James Brown at the Oakland Coliseum 1970...we were a few of the "gringos" in the audience

Re: What was your first gig ?

3 June 1973 - David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust tour - Coventry Theatre - UK - 3rd row!

I was 15.... good Lord that was 35 years ago.... I'm OLD! sad

As an initiation to live music it was pretty fantastic! But until 5 years ago I'd been to very few gigs. My wonderful man, John, has changed all that! I've been to more gigs in the past 5 years than in the whole of the preceeding 45! smile

Re: What was your first gig ?

I won't count any Youth Club dances, despite the fact that they were pretty good and Graham Parker fronted a band at one of them.

Ok, proper gig - 1967 at The Ritz or Cave Bar Bournemouth U.K. aged 12yrs - Fleetwood Mac - Peter Green , Jeremy Spencer,John McVie, Mick Fleetwood. no album out,but playing pretty well everything on their first album, probably cost about 30p to get in, say 40 cents.

Re: What was your first gig ?

I saw The Shadows in stockholm...but i can't remember the date..must have been the spring-summer of 2004-2005...

Re: What was your first gig ?

Early sixties, the classical guitarist Andres Segovia. Even although it's a completeley different musical genre, I guess he played no small part in developing the popularity of the guitar.
