Topic: The Answer????????????????

I just watched this band on Letterman, very Zeppelinesque, and checked out their Myspace only to find out they're the opening act on the AC/DC tour. Anybody that's seen the Black Ice Tour yet got any comments about these four Irishman? Or anybody from the UK seen or heard of them? What I heard I liked and will make sure I get to the AC/DC gig in time to catch them on 12/4.

Re: The Answer????????????????

Kick **** band. I had posted about them over a year ago. If you go to their web site you can download some live on BBC tracks for free. Highly recommend their debut CD "Rise". I have the deluxe version with a bonus cd of b-sides and live tracks - it is awesome. They just released their 1st U.S. release "Never Too Late" EP. I got it from Amazon for $5.98. It has 4 songs, 2 from "Rise" , one new one and one live from Japan track. The cool part is it comes with a free DVD that is almost an hour of their music videos, interveiws, live recordings and backstage stuff. Great deal. I recommend checking it out.

For a litte background they are an Irish band and they won best new band from Classic Rock Magazine in 2006. Very Free and Zep influenced.

Re: The Answer????????????????

I've heard the Answer on Planet Rock and I've heard it said that they are a brilliant live band. I'd definitely get to the show early Dawg.

Will do Miss Tripsy, thanks for the input from you and the Rev. I'll never forget showing up late just in time for The Who and catching just the last song from their opening act Lynyrd Skynyrd, Nov. '73.

Re: The Answer????????????????

Yes, they are a good band. Their Rise album was released in the summer with a disc full of extra tracks, and at pretty much the same price as the original album. Its worth getting smile

Re: The Answer????????????????

I have never seen them live; however, I have their first (only) album and I love it. Great band and I hope they make many more albums.

Re: The Answer????????????????

Excellent band -they share the same management as AC/DC, and I've been championing them since they sent me their first EP. Glad to see they're getting recognition from Rolling Stone etc, as they're certainly worthy. If you dig Zeppelin, Free or Humble Pie, you'll find a lot to enjoy on their debut album 'Rise'. If you do a search here, you'll probably find a thread or two I started a couple of years back regarding the band in fact.

Here's a link to the Letterman video :

And if inclined, here's a review of 'Rise'

Re: The Answer????????????????

The Answer were due to be supporting Black Stone Cherry on their UK tour in December, however they have pulled out of these gigs due to winning the AC/DC tour. Nevermind, the AC/DC tour will give them better exposure! smile
Their second album has been recorded and will be due out next year.

Re: The Answer????????????????

For those who are digging this band, be sure to pick up their debut U.S. release, the EP 'Never Too Late' which was just released November 11th. Consisting of 4 tracks on the audio disc, it also comes with a bonus 51 minute documentary DVD, which contains most of the promo  videos so far, band interviews and more, all for the low price of $5.98. I even saw this one in Wal Mart, so they're getting good distribution. But you can order it online here :

Concerning the audio portion from the band's web site :  "It will have 'Never Too Late' from the Rise sessions on it, to tie in with the track being featured on 'Guitar Hero: World Tour' which comes out this autumn. The e.p. will also feature a brand new song 'Highwater Or Hell' which is from the second album session the band did in Los Angeles recently. It was produced by John Travis and mixed by Mike Fraser ( AC/DC + Metallica ). The other two tracks are 'The Doctor' and 'Come Follow Me' ( live from Japan ).

Re: The Answer????????????????

Guys, The Answer are a monster band in waiting. Whether they ever get the breaks their talent deserves, god only knows. They are supremely talented and the comparisons to early Zeppelin are fair. James hits like like Bonham (and I am old enough to make that comparison), Mickey bassist nails a driving rhythm, whilst Paul the guitarist has great depth and flair in his playing. Finally, the undoubted jewel in the crown is Cormac, with a voice bestowed from the Gods. I've seen this band live and "in yer face" a number of times. They rock from the first to last. They also drink like fish and after a showcase gig in Paris when they had to drive to Switzerland I had to get a plane to London I found myself wasted and in a French gutter in the early hours of the morning....
New album due soon and the AC/DC gig should see them reach a new audience. Trust me, they are brilliant and four of the nicest guys you could wish to meet and leave you wrecked somewhere........god bless'em! See this band, and remember their name, they are one of Irelands best export, after Bushmills of course.

Re: The Answer????????????????

Just got in the mail yesterday the cd of the Answers 2007 Xmas show. You can now order it on their website, they are now set up for U.S. orders. This thing rocks. Has special guest Paul Rodgers sharing vocals on 2 old Free tunes. Highly suggested.

Now theres something to aspire to .......

I just hope their livers hold out longer than what Rory's did.

Re: The Answer????????????????

Oh I dunno Spider, Rory's liver did pretty good considering the hammering he gave it. Classic Rock last month had an interview with Gary Moore. He visited Rory a couple of weeks before he passed away apparently. Rory was staying at a hotel in Chelsea Harbour London.

Gary met him in the bar and Rory was drinking pints of Baileys! Uuuuugh....

The Irish, God bless 'em, there are no half measures. They are either saving the world, or drinking it dry, but man ,for such a relatively small place they can crank out some great musicians and bands. There is another new one to namecheck from Belfast - Million Dollar Reload. If they can hang on to the singer they could go far.

Re: The Answer????????????????

Great story about the Irish and Rory.  Checked out the group you mentioned and they're very good - needed a good dose of rock this morning to get the weekend started.  Thanks!

Re: The Answer????????????????

One fact you may not know about the Answer is that Philomena Lynnot, the mother of Thin lizzy legend Phil Lynott allowed the band to use Phil's bass in the video to their song Keep Believin'
