Topic: SOGGY SERIES

Thank God the Rays tied the game before they finally suspended play. I'm not against the Phillies, I just thought this game should have been delayed or called before it got to the point it did, meaning an official game once it entered the 5th inning. The umps botched this just as they have on numerous plays in prior games. Can anyone say they've ever seen a game go that far with that much rain and water accumulating on the field? Just watched Bud the Genius try to validate the leagues position just like when he ended the All-Star game in a tie a few years ago. The ESPN announcers just reported that the Rays have to travel to Wilmington, De. to get hotel rooms since their rooms in Philly were already filled after they left earlier today. Now what? The weather is supposed to get worse tomorrow, that domed stadium in Fla. doesn't look so bad after all now. MLB should take a page from the NFL and play the World Series in a neutral and comfortable location. Bud STINKS!!!!!!!

Re: SOGGY SERIES

That was absolutely ridiculous last night.  I cannot believe they made them play for as long as they did.  They really should have played the game under protest.

I can't see them playing today either, the forecast is calling for high winds with a rain/snow mix today/tonight.

With computers and radars and satellites...what were they thinking??????????  It was a no win for everyone, tying up the game made it the perfect place to call it, since other scenarios would have seemed unfair once they got so far...I hope no one gets pneumonia and all I could think of was a star player slipping and getting hurt!  Can you imagine the total chaos of folks trying to re-enter with their soggy ticket stubs that you can no longer read!!

If its already wet under the cover and its still raining, we could be looking at Wednesday.  There was a very bizarre Eagles game played in blizzard conditions years ago, no one could see anything...

I assume not nearly as bizarre as the Eagles game played on Monday night in Chicago some time ago. That one is referred to as the "fog" bowl here in Chicago. Very odd, fog rolled in just prior to game time and you could NOT see the field, although the players insisted it wasn't as bad at field level. Long passes were eschewed the entire game, because they couldn't be seen above a certain level.

I wonder if I'm the first person to ever use the word eschewed on this site?? : )
