I'm not sure if this is a 1st for Joe and band or not...But, Joe has made the final voting stage for the 51st Grammy awards...5 CD's will be chosen out of 67 listed in the Contemporary Blues Album category for 2007/2008...LFNIP is the nominated album...I'm not sure if there is anything we can do to help Joe in this recognition or not...Anyway, best of luck to Joe, Bogie, Carmine and Rick...You guys deserve all the recognition you can get...

I'm not trying to set the bar low, but just making into the final 5 would be an awesome accomplishment AND would get Joe's name in front of a boatload of people.

We'll have to lobby hard for an appearance as they typically give the Blues awards prior to the live show. That show may be available somewhere on the net or cable..I never looked...At any rate, the nomination alone speaks volumes. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Not that we think Joe needs validation from the industry, but it sure looks good on a resume. Congrats to the whole band!!!! Cathy
It is certainly time that he gets the nod. No album deserves it more in blues this year. It's my favorite of the year...I have a feeling Buddy Guy's Skin Deep will be in the top 5 for sure.

Does anyone know who has won in the past, kinda just to get a feeling for the type of artist that wins this award. No Doubt about it. This is HUGE!
I have called LFNIP a "classic" already (time will tell, but I really believe that this recording will stand the test of time and be considered one of the classic recordings of all-time), BUT hearing that it is up for a Grammy is FANtastic!!! I don't have a lot faith in these awards shows (so I don't expect him to win), but how cool is it that it is actually being considered? Now if only it would win.

Just select Blues. Goes back to about 1983; !986 for Contemporary Blues. The awards in the Contemporary Blues Artist category have been dominated by a relatively small group of artists (not surprising to me). Robert Cray, SRV, Keb Mo, Buddy Guy.

Personally, I won't get too excited unless Joe makes the final cut of nominees. In fact, I have to believe that all or most of Joe's albums have been submitted before for final nomination. And if they weren't, why not?
