Topic: HOB New Orleans Show, Columbus Day

Joe put on a great show down here in The Big Easy. He did mention that it was his first show he had headlined in Louisiana, and he also said he would be back sooner next time. There were a lot of new converts who had no idea how good he was. When he played "Woke Up Dreaming", they just kind of stood there with their mouths open and then went totally crazy. I don't know why it took so long for him to come back. He hasn't played here since 2004 but I'm looking forward to seeing him again soon. His set list was the same as the ones mentioned on this thread by others. He just keeps getting better and better each time he plays.

Hey Paul, thanks for the update in the Big Easy.  What was the turnout like?

Music is good for the Soul...

Re: HOB New Orleans Show, Columbus Day

David,

I think there were between 200 and 300 people at the HOB for Joe when everyone finally showed up. It's hard to tell because there is a balcony and you can't see all the people from the floor. You also have to realize that most people in New Orleans don't even come out until after 10 pm. to go see bands play music.  When I first got there I don't think they had more than 50 people in the place. They actually had chairs set up on the floor this time, I've been there for a lot of concerts and that was the first time I had something to sit on. My wife refuses to go with me anymore because she can't take standing for for 4 hours with people stepping on you and pushing on you. It was really nice and you could see a lot better than you usually can. I didn't sit in front because I already have too much hearing loss, and I was also closer to the bar...LOL  Joe's opening act was a local who has played music in N.O. for quite a few years. His name is Brint Anderson and he played an acoustic blues solo set. I've seen him before and he is always a class act. He's been around since the 70's and has played with numerous acts here and there. I imagine I won't be quite so comfortable the next time Joe comes down here because I know the word is going to spread this time. The age mix of the audience was interesting, there were more people around my age (56) than there were of any other age group. The 30 and 40 year olds had the next largest amount, and then there were a few youngsters too. I guess I grew up listening to the type of music Joe plays, so it resonates with my age group more than others. If any of you here on the forum get a chance come on down here and party. The city always has something going on and there's always a band playing somewhere too.
