Topic: The Black Keys

I've been listening to the Black keys all night. I love this band. Very unique sound, being a twosome. They take some time to get used to though if you haven't listened to the White Strips or the Racontoures (sp???). I've been listening to Rubber Factory... it is a great album.

Re: The Black Keys

You absolutely right the Black Keys are a great band, and have recorded a range of fine rock albums with a strong blues influence.
The Big Come Up there first album is very raw, but with plenty of great tunes as has Thickfreakness, its follow up. If any blues fans want to hear their music I'd suggest they start with Chulahoma which is a fantastic cover EP of Junior Kimbrough songs.
They start a European tour shortly and I'll be seeing them here in Edinburgh, can't wait smile
I much prefer them to Jack White's bands, to me they sound far more authentic!

We agree! smile I'm surprised more people are not joining this thread. Blues purists are being attacked for not embracing Joe, yet there also appears to be an opinion that there have been no decent blues rock bands since the 1970s. The Black Keys more than anyone demonstrate that is not the case.
