Re: Music Man Forum Welcomes Joe

Very nice and already three pages of posts welcoming Joe. Guess I'm switching string companies. Great photo of Joe too!

WOW Jim!  The Ernie Ball Forum not only WELCOMED JOE, but, welcomed him with open arms and MUCH excitement and enthusiasm!!!  That's a pretty active thread there.  I'll bet we have a member or two HERE that can go over THERE and ADDDDDDDDD to the excitement!!!

I'm especially excited, as I mentioned in another thread, because Ernie Ball is a mere 6 1/2 miles from my front door....... small world, isn't it ?? ........

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Very Cool! I've been using EB Power Slinky's for as long as I can remember.

I bet those forum members will soon be members here!!!!!!! Way to go Joe! The Pied Piper of Blues Rock R-O-C-K-S!!!!!!!!

Re: Music Man Forum Welcomes Joe

I'm a EB Super Slinky guy myself....for like 30 years now :-)

Can someone confirm that the baritone guitar Joe is using on "Spike Driver Blues" is in fact a John Petrucci (of Dream Theater, you haters) signature model?

It's a Stonetree. Custom made for Joe.

Hmmmmm....... both my friends are right, apparently......just depends on which performance is in question.

Spider, you are right if you are speaking of the FIRST performances of "Spike Driver Blues", when Joe began to introduce this song to us less than a month ago.  On August 5, and then on August 7, when I captured him on this video, he was using the Stonetree Baritone.  He continued to use it for the next few weeks.........

THEN, when Rhonda captured him performing the same song, on August 26, in Kansas City, he apparently had just received his new Music Man guitar.  I will include that thread here......and please scroll down to Jim Moody's reply (# 9) which has a link to the Petrucci guitar.....

http://www.jbonamassa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=7528    Jim M.'s reply #9

....  so, as I said, apparently, you are both right........ just depends on WHICH performance you're discussing.

Re: Music Man Forum Welcomes Joe

I posted at the EBMM forum.

That's a fantastic guitar.  Does anyone know if Joe chose it and purchased it, or if EBMM sent him one?

I ask in part b/c it was desinged by John Petrucci of the band Dream Theater.  It's build is rather atypical for most blues players.  I think it's very cool that Joe is playing it and demonstrating that it is not just a "shredder" kind of guitar.

Cheers,
Marc

Re: Music Man Forum Welcomes Joe

Ernie Ball sent him two. Gibson no longer makes a baritone so they didn't have a problem if he played one.

Isn't it nice to have people sending you stuff for free. Yeah I know theres a catch to it but it's still pretty cool.

True Story!

I went to the nearest music store and asked for a set of Regular Slinkys  ... they were out of stock so the salesman said "You don't want those anyway, Ernie Ball makes guitars, not strings" ... and went on to recommend a set of Fender strings...  So now I go to the second closest music store.
