Topic: Joe's Fuzz Face

I saw the Fuzz Face on the YouTube clip and Joe mentioned (if I remember correctly) that it was made for Eric Johnson. Does anyone know if it is the one made by Scott (ProAnalog)?? How does it differ from the "regular" re-issue Fuzz Face by Dunlop?

Re: Joe's Fuzz Face

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was custom-made by Dunlop for EJ, who didn't like it and sent it back to Dunlop, who sent it to Joe.  At least that's what I got out of it.

Re: Joe's Fuzz Face

You remember correctly about it being built for Eric J, but from what I recall it was built specially by Dunlop. My guess is that it will be based on NOS Transistors which no doubt will have been selected in some way. I believe the original transistors were quite inconsistent. There is some info on the Analog Man website about the various transistors that have been used in the Fuzz Face over the years, I think that's where I saw it.

He has a cool Fuzz face..I still have my original one from the late 60's...I think I paid 29.00 for it new...wish I kept the box for it!

Re: Joe's Fuzz Face

Joe showed me his Fuzz Face and said that it was a second built especially for Eric Johnson, it is unique in that the top is made of solid copper.
