Ultimately I would like to get a Category 5 Andrew and a Typhoon Joe. The same rig as Jimmy Thackery. When I saw Jimmy play in March I was totally blown away by his sound. The combo of the two have clean tops and plenty of whoopa$$ in your face crunch for the sound I want. My main guitar now is a HSS strat although I have a couple of LP's I love. Maybe it's only a pipe dream since I don't gig much anymore due to health reasons. I sit in with my old crewe once in a blue moon. Just the same I'm saving, wheeling and dealing on gear I no longer use, or buy and sell junk to get enough coinage in my pocket to make the purchase.

Thanks for the comment on the Andrew and Typhoon Joe, you described it well.  There is 10% off the second one, when you buy the first one.  And the Typhoon Joe(or Tempest) have essentially the same circuit as the JB-50 watt version in channel 2-THackery plays channel one of the Typhoon Joe most of the time), so you would get both a Thackery and a Bonamassa tone from that amp.  The combination of those two amps make a very versitle rig.

Alan (Carol Ann Amps)  I wonder how long it will take one of those to show up on eBay?  It's great marketing for a fantastic sounding amp.  The price is very resonable.  Two Rocks go for more than that.  Good luck!

"In order to get clean and OD you would need both amps, unless you compromised and used pedals. THe OD-2 is a true 2 channel with seperate eq and masters and tube buffered efx loop. You have less gear to move with the CA set up to and they are all completely hand built and gig tested by me !!"

You dont need to use both amps to get overdrive.  And using pedals is never compromising. Last time I checked Joe uses a tube screamer, fuzz face, and another overdrive pedal that I cant recall.  I would love a carol ann amp.  They sound great.

But to bring your math down to a far more realistic level. 

Carol Ann JB-100 = 5500.00

Vox AC 30 = 900 max
Twin Pro tube series = 1000
Fulltone Fulldrive = 140
Fulltone OCD = 150
Gibson 1958 Reissue Les Paul = 2650
Boss DD-6 = 130
Dunlop Wah = 80

All equals = 5050.00

So according to my math I can buy one hell of a setup for 500 dollars less then just the JB-100 Head.  Then I got to buy the speakers and the guitars.

I am sure you make a fantastic amp.  Just not for those who arnt rolling in cash.
I include Van Weeden, Two rock, and Cat 5 in your crew... you just the only one who actually responds.

Maybe one day I'll be rich enough to enjoy divine tone.

I bought a 70's Twin Reverb for $750... and a Marshall JTM60 this year for $250.  The JTM60 is known to overheat, but the fan I'm getting is going to remedy that problem.  That's both for $1,000 even.  Keep your eyes open and look for deals.  No harm towards the Carol-Ann Amps, but I'm with jgalvan8804 .  I don't think you have to brake the bank to get a decent tone.  IMHO

Oh and I use a Fulltone OCD and a VisualSound Route 66  with my twin and I'm constantly getting complements on my tone.

I really dont want to take anything away from Carol Ann Amps.  They are great sounding amps. If I ever get really good and really rich I will probably own a few. My hats off to them.

I just wish they could maybe make something worth a damn in the 1000-1500 range.  Bad Cat is putting out the BC-50. 

Lets get a 30-50 watt head that sounds great in a range the common player can afford.

Check out the Buddas. In that price range, and pretty rockin'

Uno I've never heard of a Route 66 before this week and in the last 3 days I've heard that name mentioned alot....

Aye but making best of what you can afford is part of the fun no? smile I wish there was something good in a cheaper price range unfortunately unless you want production line made in china stuff (which by all means isnt that bad these days), you would be looking at hand made amps which cost for labour etc its like a trade off, these days hardly anything is made by hand sad

Another option:

    The Peavey Classic Series. I LOVED my Classic 50 410 Combo. Hard to haul around. But, it really sounded great. WAAAAYYY underrated. The 30, etc. are cool. But, the 410, 50 watter is sweet.

    Did I enjoy it as much as my Buddas? No. BUT, other than the "Boutique", "Custom Shop", or "Vintage" stuff, it is definately worth checking out.



    Or, you could just get the Budda. LOL
