Topic: Pacific Road gig, Birkenhead

Absolutely brilliant set from Joe, thought he played better than Manchester Academy, surprised he didn't bring out the Gigliotti???? In fact he introduced a couple of "new" guitars for some numbers. (different from what he used in Manchester) The accoustic set was just mesmerisingly awesome. Support band were also excellent. Managed to get the whole set on video, but loused the first bit of the first song, by getting the focus screwed up, but sorted it after a couple of minutes fumbling. Played a couple of minutes when I got home after the show and it's not bad, not studio quality but hey I'm an amateur.
Although the gig was well supported (probably about 500 - the capacity is 600) there was still plenty of space to get to the bar and return to the front without all the usual hassle, spilt drinks etc. After the show asked Joe about the perspex shield in front of the amps and speakers and he said it was to damp the sound from the front of house audience, otherwise it would be too loud and would send everyone home with their ears ringing - very considerate Joe. He also said he would be back in the UK again next March - Where, I'm not sure but this chappie will have his hands on tickets as soon as they are on sale. Chatted to the guys from Stone Sole River who were a really friendly bunch, who said they had all been out with Joe and his crowd for an Indian at the Albert Dock on their night off the night before - they didn't rate the food - sorry lads
Thanks Joe, I'm a new fan. Very impressed indeed! see you next year!

Agree with Geoff, another stunning performance from Joe, though I think The Ferry gig in Glasgow just shades it. This is only because at The Ferry, Joe played The River and Burning Hell, but,  here, opted for Had To Cry Today in place of The River. Joe also conducted a 'call & response' with  the Ferry audience during Burning Hell. Roll on the next tour where I'm sure Joe's gonna need some bigger venues.

Re: Pacific Road gig, Birkenhead

Think you must have been slightly to the right of me , would have said hi if i'd realised .Still overwhelmed , feel like we are  very fortunate to have been there . Hope your video helps the moment linger for you.

Cheers,

p.s people will be thinking everyone at the gig was called Geo/Jeff to avoid confusion perhaps we should be calling everyone Bruce .
