Topic: Winter Park Blues From the Top

What an incredible concert. I'm new here so bear with me... I've seen Clapton and B.B. and that concert was probably the best I've ever seen. He opened with Bridge To Better Days, I was right up front and got some great pictures (but I cant get them on my computer sad). If anyone has audio of the show I'd love to see it.

Re: Winter Park Blues From the Top

Were you there at 1000 when they started letting everyone in??  Joe was warming up then & sounded great!!  His set was great but too bad they were running so far behind schedule that it was starting to get dark (and cold up in those mountains...well, cold if you were in a tank top/shorts)....

Re: Winter Park Blues From the Top

No I got there right before jimmy Hall got there because i wanted to see Tommy Shannon (being the Stevie Ray Vauhgan fan that i am) but I met him after the show and got his autograph (he still has my sharpie)

Re: Winter Park Blues From the Top

hey guys..I was there too and we got incredible pictures and video of at least 4 songs all the way through.  If you were up front then you might have been bothered by my bro in law holding up his "hammer"...high defininition video camera...you will not believe it!! I have begged him to post on you tube and as soon as he does I'll post a link.  show was incredible..to arrive only to see Joe right there on stage doing his sound check...well let me tell you we FREAKED OUT!! this was our first time seeing him and it was the entire reason we drove from Kansas City to Winter Park.  Joe was everything we thought he would be...he looked amazing, much younger than I thought, slimmer...and he played his heart out.  my only criticism I guess is that we didn't feel he was all that connected with his band.  I know it's a new band so perhaps in time this will work itself out.  The entire day was beautiful..I thought to bring a fleece so once Joe went on the fleece went on and I was the perfect temperature.  What an awesome day, well worth the drive to and from, and we came home to KC to find that JOE IS COMING ON AUGUST 26TH!!!  too excited for words.  Joe rocks my world...can't wait to see him again!

Re: Winter Park Blues From the Top

Nope, he was hand holding it.  He said a few people around him were like "you gonna film this whole thing??" getting irritated..I told him next time to remind them that if they want to see it again..just deal!!"  I know he got Woke up Dreaming, he got Mountain Time, and darned if I can remember the other two..but it's in high def...amazingly clear picture...the sound is good..not great since he was so close, but compared to what you see out there this will blow some minds for sure.  He's been busy with work traveling, but I"m hoping he'll get them loaded over the weekend, and I promise to follow up with you.

A suggestion for your pictures..you can go to flickr and for free upload all your pics from the show, then you can post a link here so people can check them out.  It's free and easy, although it takes a bit of time if you have a bunch.

Re: Winter Park Blues From the Top

I'd love to take a look when you get the video up.  We were up on the 2nd tier by the reclaimed wood guy/tree cutter guys stands.  This was our 4th "Blues From The Top" show and we've stayed at the little inn right across the street each year...so it just rocks that they moved it into Winter Park from Sol Vista-

Hmmm, I think I'm just too lazy/old/a devoted fan or something but I just couldn't haul myself across that street to grab a fleece when Joe came on!!!  I mean...come one-what, 100 feet away or something??  Tip for y'all for next year-the inn across the street has a German theme to it so they have great German food/beer for lunch/dinner and you can hear the concert CRYSTAL clear.  On Saturday my 15 year old went and took a nap (our room was right on the end) and said he couldn't sleep because of the music!!

My only disappointment was that Tab Benoit wasn't here...love that man!!  I guess they are doing his annual golf tourney when he's up there in August.  He had been a fixture at that show..

Yeah I would have loved to see Tab, but since Tommy Shannon was there with Jimmy Hall I was happy. How much are those rooms? I'd love to get one next year.

Hi Amy,

Nice to hear from you again. Glad you enjoyed your Bonabaptism, bet you're still on cloud 9. I can't wait to see the videos.

Re: Winter Park Blues From the Top

First post! I was in the front row for this show, AND it was my first time seeing Joe live.  I have to say, it exceeded all of my expectations.  I managed to get some video, but my camera kept giving me "buffer overrun" errors because I think the sound overloaded the mic.  One of these days I will have to piece the clips together and post the video I managed to get.

I got in right at 10:00 AM and got a place right up front.  Seeing Joe's soundcheck was an unexpected treat!

Now that you setup the tease on the long story, I think you are going to have to spill it...

And yes, I will make an intro post soon.  Thanks!

Re: Winter Park Blues From the Top

Hmmm, hubby thinks they are in the $100-$125 range for 2 queen beds (3 of us) which includes a real nice European breakfast.  Small place but they do have a hot tub out back which is nice and the couple that run it are great (he's either Austrian or Swiss).  They do lunch and dinner for the public and like I said..they have a great bar that serves food/beer...I guess fondue in the pub is a big thing in the winter but my kiddo loves it and they said they might start doing it in the summer.

RIGHT across the street from that park where the festival now is.  Gasthaus Eichler...check it out!!!

I'm making myself hungry just writing about the place!!!  Oh, and I did mention that if someone needs a break from the sun....they miss no music by going back to the room and opening a window!!!

See you guys there next year-
