Topic: Hello, Newbie Here. Modding A Blues Deluxe

Hello Everyone, i've just joined after many month of reading your topic as a guest. there seems to be a lot of very knowledgable people here, plus you actually get replies from joe himself which is amazing.

i'm always messing around with my sound and my current amp is a blues deluxe reissue. i like it, but i think that it could be a alot more. it's all stock at the momment, just been revalved with two ruby tube 6L6's and 3 EHX 12AX7, which has made it sound a lot better already.

i think a few people on here own a blues deluxe.

ps: sorry for spelling/grammar, i'm dislexyic and struggle sometimes. smile

welcome to the forum

here's a great site for modding amps and guitars... you should be able to find some cool stuff there.

BTW I have a Rivera amp and it loves the Ruby tubes. The freakin thing sings.

Hi welcome to the board! thats good news cuz mines needing a retube (started rattling to hell sad ) was wondering what tubes would suit it. Personally I love the way the amp sounds just wish it would drive at a lower volume... but tbh its exactly what I was looking for in an amp

Re: Hello, Newbie Here. Modding A Blues Deluxe

i love the clean and crunchy sound you can get from it, i just think that maybe a better speaker and it'll sound even better. driving it is a pain, there so dam loud, i normally only get to around 2-3 on stage before i'm drowning every one out. i normally use a overdrive pedal for my main dirty/lead tones.

i recommend the ruby tubes, and i'm quite chuffed with the EHX's

Re: Hello, Newbie Here. Modding A Blues Deluxe

On stage i use the normal channel at around 6-7 just about where it starts to distort, then use the guitar volume control to play with it.... the drive channel has an awful volume pot so i dont play around with it... so hard to control volume...  (it sounds like I have it on loud but it isnt really blends in well with a drummer etc) we dont play loud do alot of slow / jazzy stuff.
