Re: my New Guitar photos

Nice! How does it sound? Similar to the Gibson?

Cool coffee table too.

Re: my New Guitar photos

Hey, Nice, she's a looker.   New guitar always has that stimulating effect, good deal.   Details? pups, hardware, ect?

And did you build this one or who did and how'd you come onto her?   I've seen alot of local ak builders guitars sold on C.L. and they go pretty reasonable; I'm just never in Anch when I see them listed, ha.

Re: my New Guitar photos

These guitars are a new company. They already have their own original headstock design. The new headstock looks like the silhouette of two spread legs instead of the "open-book" headstock I have.

I played some prototypes and wanted my own specs, so I got what I wanted and my initials and birthdate for a serial #. In return, I made some youtube videos for his website.

The pickups are just stock no name I think. So I'll prolly upgrade thoughs.
Plastic nut, I'll switch that out too.
Wilkinson tuners.

The four knobs are:
6- way pickup selector, very nice
Overdrive knob with 5 levels of overdrive (has micro-level adjustment in the cavity)
volume
tone

When I got it I thought I was going to return it because the neck was so big. But the action was high enough to play slide and that was the actual problem. It's a lot more comfy with a low action.  The tenon on the neck goes past the rhythm pickup...solid. The intonation is a little off, but I'll address that when I change the nut.

It sounds great. There is a LOT of sparkle with certain pickup combinations. There are some real sweet spots on the guitar. I always wanted an SG, especially the SG Supreme with the emerald burst. I think for the $ I got really close to it. It'll go toe to toe with lower priced Gibsons and top-line Jay Tursers and Epi's...if the pickups were better and was ready to play out of the box, I could start to rival it with Gibson, but it's just not there yet.

The guitars are priced right around the same as Epiphone, and are made in Germany. They have single cut LP style guitars too, and just came out with their own hot pickups (uncovered). You gotta check out their new headstock. It's hilarious.

What's up with the disassembled banjocaster?

Re: my New Guitar photos

Ya know, I've never thought much about electronics/switches on the guitar but I see everybody talking about it.  I always change pups & tuners but not much else, my ignorance I guess, ha.  Where'd you get those ideas?  Out here, I never see any changes; just pretty much stock gear.

Enjoyed the other picts too, you do some fishin I see.  Up here, they call fishin with nets & fishwheels, poles are unethical.  Been salmoned out for years, but do put out some trotlines in the Yukon for Burbot, get quite a few 36-42 inchers.  We have grayling, sheefish, pike, and whitefish too, but most people want the kings & chums.  Anyway, if ya want to see some fish, guitar, wildlife picts look at my photobucket when ya get time.

what are you talking about? my strat project?

Its a pain in the butt. It's northern ash but it treats me like it's oak. the sanding and filing has proven to be a huge headache. I'm ready to get out a hammer and a chisel. Its REALLY heavy though. It aint gonna be some light strat. That sucker's gonna be awesome.

Re: my New Guitar photos

Haha yeah, it's a nickname for a Strat.

A heavy strat though? Sounds cool. I've gotten used to my Paul's weight, so it's kind of hard for me to play my strat at times...
