Now that the website has a new look perhaps the messages left can now be all of a musical significance, something a true blues music fan will appreciate reading.

the set list is virtually the same every night.  we arent getting paid to write reviews, we are do it because we want to.  this is random members from the audience not professional music reviewers  how about instead of whining about what everyone else does you contribute something yourself?  it is an internet forum not a blues news database.

I agree Suhl. Speaking for myself, I love to read about other forum members live Joe experiences and the more personal they are the better. If somebody just wants a show review just about the music from an impersonal point of view then there are plenty of other sources to go to.

I think the enthusiasm and the sheer joy that comes across in the posts about shows on this site is wonderful and no one should feel they have to apologise for a show review which is more than just an account of the songs and how they were played.

If people don't like what they read on this forum then all I have to say to them is...DON'T CALL AGAIN!!

No harm, no foul with Karen's post.  I kind of agreed with her that my post was of a personal experience at the canton festival instead of a knowledgable musical review of Joe's performance.  I should have just copied and pasted to another topic.

I do not have a music education, nor any musical talent what-soi-ever, all I know is as I sat there in the 3rd row center, surrounded by 10,000 other music lovers and Joe stood on the edge of the stage playing Mountain Time live, or sloe gin, or asking around for you, it brings tears to my eyes!  I don't know how someone can have the ability to make me feel so much emotion by playing a guitar, but Joe does.  It is something he does everytime I see him play.  I am in awe of that talent.  He truley is a legend in his own time and I feel so fortunate to be able to see him live.

That would be the extent of a musical review from me. 

I will be looking forward to Karen's reviews of the shows she gets to attend.

PS I did pull my pics because I had a question on the slide show viewer that I was using.  I wanted to verify with Melissa that it was OK to use it.  She is checking for me.

Susan, That right there is a pretty darn good review in my book.........No music education or talent?....I don't think so... You have all the education & talent necessary to know good music when you hear it..... Your personal experiences and feelings that you are sharing with us are more important to me than all the perfectly written set lists and reviews on this earth.....Don't let anyone intimidate you about always staying on topic or writing the most precise reviews.....Please continue to share with us...All of it.... Boy, do I second THAT!  I'm forever discounting my opinion because I don't play, don't study, can't read anything w/ more than one sharp or one flat and forget about bass clef altogether!  But I know what "moves" me, and like you Susan, often to tears.  I know what a dear friend, who has MS for godsakes, with no feeling in her feet!, told me after I dragged her to a different gig.  She said, "Oh, he was ok, but he's no Joe!  Joe you feel all the way from the bottoms of your feet pulsing up through your body until he fills your SOUL!"  That review is the best kind for me!

Great musicians have a language & vocabulary that transcends the usual barriers & touches us on a more primitive , basic & yet complex level....
